Keeping the borders closed is costing Thailand and Cambodia too much money, so my guess is that the majority (if not all) of the border crossings will be open soon.

The Cambo boys will start trickling back to the scene as this year's semi-high season gets into gear - so you punters should start getting ready to field the stories you're going to be hearing, e.g., "my home was destroyed and I have nowhere to live", "our water buffalo stepped on a landmine had his leg blown off", "my grandmother collapsed and fell into a coma after hearing rocket fire and needs money for medical treatment",etc., etc., etc...and the list goes on.

That is quite true and ought to be fully expected. However, I doubt many are going to be dealing with that any time soon. Cambodia already has violated the ceasefire and Thailand is retaliating.

As far as who violated what...we'll probably never know the truth considering the "honesty levels" of both governments.

I don't think it matters. The point is the ceasefire apparently was a very quick failure. The government heads may have agreed to ceasefire, but obviously the military did not agree. Whether this whole thing is back to square one remains to be seen.

Both sides seem quiet now and everyone seems to be breathing a sigh of relief.

I can't help but wonder how my friends in Kantharalak are doing right now. I know whenever the military was in town in the past because of these flareups the gay boys would get all flustered and scamper around looking for their makeup...555

Regarding the Cambodian boys returning to Pattaya, I wouldn't be holding my breath just yet. Even if the ceasefire holds, we don't know when, or even if, the borders will be reopened. We don't know whether the 7 day visa restrictions will be rescinded. We don't know whether Thailand will issue visas to Cambodians or specifically these boys any time soon or whether they will make it much more difficult for these boys to obtain a visa. We don't know if the Cambodian boys will even want to come back if they fear retaliation.

I won't try to guess when Pattaya might be seeing Cambodian boys in the bars again, but for sure it won't be tomorrow . . ..

Some Cambodian guys never left. The ones there illegally would have no reason to leave.

As for some of those who did depart, I understood the main concern was related to the cost & inconvenience of doing a border run every 6 days. The 6 days hasn't changed ? In fact at present, I presume they need to travel to a different country to get that stamp.

As for young Suk, well he's been posting some unflattering photos of a certain VIP.
I presume he's gone home and is not planning on working in Thailand any time soon ?

Do you notice any difference in the number of Cambodian boys still working the bars? Are the numbers noticeably fewer?
