Well here's a Jomtien bar boy from Cambodia reposting some militaristic comment.
This isn't very smart for someone who has been working in Thailand & may want to do so again.
Impact of The Border Conflict on Bar Boys
Re: Impact of The Border Conflict on Bar Boys
He certainly speaks his mind. I posted before the nasty message he sent me.
If I wasn’t such a forgiving (horny) guy, I’d never speak to him again. I’m worried about this conflict going on. I don’t know what I’ll do if my beloved 69 bar closes over this.
Still plenty of Thai, Lao, Myanmar boys left I suppose.

He's not going to make much difference to the war by posting on Facebook.
What he might do is lose a few friends, which seems unwise when he has been spending so much time working in Thailand.
It were one of our countries having a skirmish with Thailand, I think any of us who visit or live in Thailand would have the good sense to keep a low profile ?
As for Bar 69, if that closes, I'll just go to another bar.
To be honest, I'm much more interested in certain boys there than the bar itself. Hopefully those boys have the good sense to be more diplomatic than Suk.

The link is to his profile, not a particular post. He posted a lot, some of them not available any more.
Many of my Khmer and Thai contacts post about the war. I don't comment and maintain neutrality.
Far fetched: I'm here to make love, not war.

Re: Impact of The Border Conflict on Bar Boys
He's reposting every bit of pro-Cambodia propaganda he can find. If I link to the actual posts, it doesn't include the reference to Suk.
Being pro-Cambodia is fine, however, for a boy who has spent much of his time working in Thailand and might want to do so again, I think it's unwise behaviour.
Fortunately, I think my Cambodian friends have more sense than young Suk has.

Re: Impact of The Border Conflict on Bar Boys
If he is so gung-ho about it, maybe he ought to join the Cambodian army. Why do I have a feeling that won't happen, at least not voluntarily?
Re: Impact of The Border Conflict on Bar Boys
Young boys being full of bravado for their countries when at war is a natural response to be expected.
That said, it's probably better that the Cambodian boys stay home until this conflict is well-over. The same holds true for Thais visiting Cambodia.
Having nearly identical cultures should help calm the waters over time - but hanging around bars and consuming alcohol in each others countries at a time like this is definitely not a good idea.

One side is right here, imho. I won’t say which but it should be obvious.
Re: Impact of The Border Conflict on Bar Boys
I was tempted to suggest that, but it's hard to make the question sound neutral.
The right answer for a Cambodian bar boy who has done so well working in Thailand is to keep his mouth shut. I suspect most of them get that.
Re: Impact of The Border Conflict on Bar Boys
I’m hoping China steps in quickly to negotiate a truce. Thailand seems to not be influenced by the USA now, as it once was. Thailand probably doesn’t want a truce as they have the superior military.
Maybe the boy can help the Cambodians by dressing up on drag and distracting the Thais.
