"Thai investigators concluded that flaws in the design and construction methods caused the collapse of a partially built Bangkok building that killed at least 89 people during the March 28 earthquake, according to Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

An investigation by a government agency and three universities found that the elevator and stairwell walls — key structures meant to absorb shear force — were improperly designed and built, Ms Paetongtarn said at a press briefing on Monday. She added that the quality of steel, concrete and other materials met required standards, disputing earlier reports that substandard steel bars had been used."

Yet another reason not to buy a condo not yet built, or even one recently completed. If I ever buy or rent a condo, it's going to be in an established, well maintained building.

I tend to agree. If a building hasn't fallen down for 20 years, at least there is some track record.

Some of these newer buildings tend to be more expensive per square metre as well.

If we compare (for example) Copacabana with some of the View Talay blocks:
1 Copacabana is more expensive
2 The rooms tend to be smaller
3 There are few facilities right next to the building
4 I can't actually see what is better about it. Even the pool seems too busy with some party music playing.

One thing is clear, there are plenty of places for sale.
