That, along with the rest of what you described is far too many red lights for me, Jun, especially the boys glued to their phones like that. If it were me, I would have left in that same Grab taxi and either gone elsewhere or perhaps back to my room and gotten a boy from the apps or, if necessary, a 'self-service' massage that day . . .

I hope the massage you did get turned out to be worth the wait.

One question that has been puzzling me for a long time. So many people from so many walks of life in so many different locales are all glued to their phones. What the hell are they all looking at that is so fascinating?

I.

This massage place was on the edge of Buriram. Despite zero chance of passing trade, their advertising is minimal. They sent me pictures of all the boys before I went there.
I took a grab taxi and it's a bungalow almost in the countryside. Several boys were on their phones outside and were not disturbed from that by the arrival of a customer.

I live in Surin and have never been able to find a male massage place in the Surin/Buriram area would you mind posting a link to the place you visited.

I am surprised about your comment about the lady at Lawson on her phone, if that is Lawsons the butchers I go over to their shop every couple of months and have never experienced this with the lady.

......I'm not using my phone during any massage. Well, not other than for a time check before and after.
I can't believe I'm hearing this.

I was just jesting before, but you actually have your phone in your hand when you lay down to get a massage??? And you do this to make a "time check" to make sure your not getting ripped off???...

OMG!

This whole thing has "KARMA" written all over it.

Buriram...Boy Massage...that's a first!

This was Buriram. As far as I could tell, no other massage places with boys.
Fortunately, the place I was planning to eat at was nearby. So I walked there.

I may have the phone on the table or it may be in my shorts.

1 hour massages that last less than an hour are quite common these days. It's not just me. Try reading google maps reviews for some places in Jomtien.
If it's under 50 minutes, I usually complain, unless the massage was very good. Under 45 and I definitely complain and probably won't return to that shop for several years, unless it was an outstanding 45 minutes.

This means I need to check the time before and after.

Many years ago, I had a massage at the Lavender Lanna gay hotel in Chiang Mai. I didnt think much of the stopped clock, until about 30 minutes in, when they informed me my 90 minutes was up and pointed to the stopped clock.

You sure do seem to get ripped off a lot.

Have you ever tried taping a stop watch to your forehead? They have them now that are accurate to a tenth of a second.

BTW...can you send me a link to that Boy Massage in Buriram?

How do you conclude that?
I rarely get ripped off. I just quoted a 2025 experience and added one from many years ago, just because of the stopped clock example.

I think my previous board report on a short massage was two years ago.

I mostly avoid problems by only going back to the good shops or good massage boys. So, for example, there are places in Jomtien that I've only visited once, whilst I have seen other masseurs over 10 times.

Sadly, I don't see that many other board members writing about recent visits to massage shops etc. That says it all. We're missing the only type of input on the topic that really matters.

In the absence of such board input, the customer review text on google maps is enlightening.

Were you able to find that link to the Boy Massage in Buriram? I've never spotted one myself, and now you've captured my interest.

Thanks in advance.

There may be reasons for that. Just look at some of the responses to reports of current activity.

Re Jun:
I noticed as well that even if the boys are physically present, management lets customer choose from pictures.
The massage room should have a clock on the wall, so both customer and masseur can check time.

Re Dodger:
I too check time when massage starts and ends for statistical purposes (my diary and blog).

Public transport in Bangkok provides an opportunity to unobtrusively see what others are doing on their phones, and sadly it's rarely educational stuff. I must admit, in such situations, where you have 10 minutes to fill, I would most probably be on social media or online dating as well.

Much appreciated.

I see a few advertised in Buriram - but Buriram is huge and some of the places I see advertised are out in fairly remote areas.

Did you ever make it to Khun Han?
