First piece of good news I've had all day. If the authorities won't stop them, I'm glad to see that some locals are fed up and doing something about it. It's a shame it came to violence, but it's hard to blame the local involved Thais who are sick and tired of it. If any of the involved Thais are caught, I hope they get a medal rather than get arrested.

Agreed.
Hopefully Pattaya police make sure they DON'T catch the local Thais.

Dozens of Middle Eastern Tourists and Young Thai Men Brawl in South Pattaya

By Goongnang Suksawat

4 August, 2024

The Pattaya City Police stopped chaos between Middle Eastern foreigners, most reportedly from Kuwait, and young Thai men, many reportedly Bolt motorbike taxi app riders, in the Pattaya area on Saturday (August 3rd).

Captain Pansan Krongsit was notified of the incident at 5:00 A.M. in Soi Yen Sabai in Nongprue. They and the Pattaya News arrived at the scene finding signs of a conflict such as broken glass on the ground.

Local residents and witnesses told Pattaya police that over a dozen young Thai motorbike riders were arguing and fighting with dozens of young middle eastern men, mostly Kuwaiti nationals. Rocks were thrown by those involved in the conflict that caused damage to nearby businesses.

It is unclear, however, what sparked the dispute but tensions have been high in this area for weeks with police conducting almost daily crackdowns on mostly Kuwaiti students on school leave who have angered local residents for allegedly disrespecting locals and racing motorbikes around without proper licenses, registration, or documentation.

Several Kuwaiti nationals were reportedly injured in the conflict and CCTV footage shows dozens of foreign tourists, again mostly seemingly Kuwaiti students, running and hiding in nearby shops as packs of angry young Thai men threw rocks and shouted at them.

Police advised business owners and injured individuals to file official reports to police so that they could conduct a formal investigation. Meanwhile, police are checking CCTV footage to track down both Thai and foreign law breakers.

Complaints have continued to pour in on a daily basis about Middle Eastern tourists on Soi Yensabai allegedly disrupting the peace and quiet of the area and angering local residents which continue to increase tension between different groups.

It's a shame that local Thais have to do the work of the BIB who are, for all practical purposes, totally incompetent (incapable) of handling this situation which has been festering for years now.

Knowing the Thais, this won't be the end of it unless the Kuwaiti's get their acts together. If they don't I can see the need for a string of ambulances in the future.

Whatever it takes to get the job done as far as I'm concerned.

I doubt this will happen, but I would have no objection if local Thais make it clear they will no longer put up with this kind of behavior and will do whatever is necessary to put a stop to it. Then maybe the motorbike maniacs will just go home and stop going to Pattaya every year to create this chaos.

Try as I might, I just cannot understand the kind of mindset that makes these Kuwaitis even want to do this. Their concept of an ideal holiday is to go to another country and race up and down the streets on motorbikes while disregarding any semblance of respect for anybody else. That's their idea of great fun and something to look forward to when the next summer holiday rolls around.

I wonder how Kuwait authorities would deal with this same kind of behavior within Kuwait. My guess is they wouldn't put up with it at all.

There are good reasons why many of us fly past these repressive middle Eastern countries, as we head from Europe to SE Asia.

So it's no surprise that those from the middle East look for somewhere better when they go on holiday. They've found the sweet spot in South Pattaya, where the mafia police are too damn lazy and corrupt to do anything other than collect tea money.

And going to Pattaya to behave like that is their idea of a holiday.

Great! I hope the police are really going to follow through this time rather than the usual lip service and empty promises. Now that this situation is getting publicity, there is a better chance they will and will start deporting these motorbike maniacs or at least revoke their visas, forcing them to leave on their own. I'm not holding my breath, though. I'll believe it when they really do it.

If they do, maybe the Kuwaitis will think twice about returning to Pattaya and engaging in this kind of activity next year, especially if it becomes clear their behavior will not be tolerated again. People who have been forced for years to endure this have had enough. Who can blame them?

Pattaya Police Seek to Expel Kuwaiti Nationals Involved in Recent Violence with Locals

By Aim Tanakorn

5 August, 2024

Pattaya Police launched an investigation following a violent, massive clash between Thai and Kuwaiti nationals on Soi Yensabai this weekend. The Kuwaiti suspects will potentially be deported from Thailand after facing legal charges, police said.

The investigation was spearheaded by Pol. Lt. Col. Sirach Nuethes, Deputy Commander of Pattaya Police Station, along with Pol. Lt. Col. Piyapong Ensarn, Superintendent of Tourist Police Division 4.

The officers led a team of over 50 officers to inspect Soi Yensabai around the late afternoon of August 3rd, 2024. They also discussed with representatives of the Kuwaiti students involved in the incident to inform them of the Thai laws, regulations during their stay, and the incident’s legal consequences.

Pol. Lt. Col. Sirach told The Pattaya News that Pattaya Police will pursue legal action against both Kuwaiti and Thai nationals responsible for the attack. He will also inform the Chonburi Immigration Office for the potential revocation of the Kuwaiti suspects’ visas before pushing for their deportation.

How much longer are the authorities going to permit these Kuwaitis to ride the motorbikes and cause this kind of chaos? Three Thai women seriously injured because of it. I wonder if they'll do anything substantial about them before anyone is killed, if even then.

Kuwaiti on a motorbike going the wrong direction at high speed. Anyone surprised by this accident? Does anyone think a serious accident involving these Kuwaitis was not inevitable? Will more accidents happen before these people are stopped? Are they going to be allowed to come again next year and do the same thing? Are they going to be tolerated causing more chaos tonight?

I hope this guy survives and is forced to pay all medical expenses, lost wages, and anything else connected with this accident.

On top of that, the Thais involved in the fight with Kuwaitis have been arrested. See the second article below.

Kuwaiti Tourist and Three Pattaya Women Seriously Injured in Early Morning Motorbike Crash

By Aim Tanakorn

6 August, 2024

Four Thai women were injured, three seriously, in a motorbike crash that took place early today, August 6th, 2024. The crash involved a 19-year-old Kuwaiti motorcyclist who also suffered serious injuries.

The accident occurred at 5:46 AM on Chalermprakiat Road, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Upon receiving the report, officers from the Pattaya Police Station and rescue volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation rushed to the scene.

At the scene, authorities found an orange/black GPX motorcycle severely damaged in the front. Four female Thai nationals were injured— three critically and one with minor injuries. The other party involved was a black/green Honda Click motorcycle also severely damaged in the front. The foreign rider, identified as Mr. Abdalaziz Alazemi, a 19-year-old Kuwaiti national, was found critically injured. None of the individuals involved in the accident were wearing helmets.

Rescue workers administered first aid before quickly transporting all the injured individuals to a nearby hospital. Additionally, two civilian vehicles parked on the roadside were also damaged.

Ms. Pranee Kasa, 27, who was a passenger on the GPX motorcycle and suffered only minor injuries, told The Pattaya News that they were traveling from South Pattaya towards Central Pattaya and had signaled to turn into Soi Chalermprakiat 19. While waiting to turn, the foreign rider, who was traveling with a Thai female passenger and was in the wrong lane, crashed into them head-on at high speed, causing the riders to be thrown in different directions. Good Samaritans then alerted rescue services.

Pattaya Police are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the collision. This accident followed a viral fight between Thai Bolt drivers and Kuwaiti nationals on Soi Yensabai the past weekend.

Pattaya Police Round Up Bolt Drivers Involved in Clash with Kuwaiti Tourists

By Aim Tanakorn

6 August, 2024

Pattaya Police finally managed to round up a group of Thai Bolt drivers who were involved in a massive fight with Kuwaiti tourists on Soi Yensabai earlier this weekend.

On August 5th, 2024, Pol. Col. Nawin Thirawit, Superintendent of Pattaya Police Station, along with other officers, apprehended nine Bolt drivers, aged 20-30 years old. They were taken to the Pattaya police station for questioning before being formally charged with assault and property damage.

The arrests followed a clash between Thai men, many of whom were Bolt drivers, and Kuwaiti tourists after an unresolved traffic accident dispute. Reports indicate that over 50 Kuwaiti men attacked a single Thai man, prompting the Thai men to retaliate, which led to the viral confrontation.

The nine suspects, whose names were not disclosed by the police, admitted their involvement in the fight. They claimed that their actions were motivated by a Facebook post, which urged Pattaya locals to reclaim their honor after the alleged attack on the Thai man.

The suspects also expressed their displeasure with the behavior of some Kuwaitis who drive loudly and disregard Thai traffic laws. They apologized to the Pattaya community for the disturbance caused.

The suspects are now being processed for legal action.
