"What could be more relaxing than hanging out with a few buddies and smoking 40 cigarettes in a single night? Possibly smoking 40 joints, but most people don't do that. On the other hand, 18% of high school seniors have reported engaging in behavior that is equivalent to smoking 10-40 cigarettes in a single sitting, and then kissing everybody as well."

Re: What a surprise,,,Hookahs
I am against hookahs, they should be banned. Fire risk, risk of them falling down (these long tubes!), blocking view, I don't like it (tried once in Kuala Lumpur on invitation of a friend).
Yesterday, went to a bar with friends and finally we had a hookah on our table. No change of mouth pieces.
But then came the twist: One in our group started inhaling the fumes and passing it mouth to mouth to others (after non-verbal agreement, mainly male-male). The cute boy opposite (friend of a friend, we have known just a few hours) did so three times with me, and the last one was a real kiss!

I'm no fan of hookahs either. Hookers, yes. Hookahs, no. But one question - If you're perfectly willing to kiss strangers, then what's the bad part about no change of the hookah's mouthpiece?christianpfc wrote:the last one was a real kiss!

I met a guy in Istanbul. We went for coffee and he smoked a hookah. They gave him a fresh mouthpiece in a sealed bag. I don't smoke so I didn't try one. Why were they banned in Pattaya?

I might be wrong, but to the best of my knowledge, the hookahs haven't been banned, but certain concoctions to smoke have been banned.lvdkeyes wrote:Why were they banned in Pattaya?

People should be free to poison themselves with tobacco, alcohol, burgers or whatever. Law just needs to protect the innocent from passive smoking, drunken drivers etc.
As for passing the hookah mouthpiece around, well germs from the mouthpiece are not the main health hazard, it's what passes through the mouthpiece.
I suspect many board members would not be at all worried about the mouthpiece, considering non-sterilised mouthpiece is probably much more hygenic than certain other things which one may suck.

Re: What a surprise,,,Hookahs
Not changing mouth piece is no problem for me. (Wouldn't be a problem, I don't smoke hookah directly, only second hand mouth-to-mouth with a cute boy.)
But for people who are concerned, there are disposable mouthpieces that you change for each user.
Go into a darkroom of a gay sauna and you will experience other things, that make sharing a hookah with strangers tame.
When I was about 15, I had my own water bottle in the fridge because I didn't want to drink from the same bottle as my parents for reasons of hygiene. That was long time ago, now my attitude has changed considerably. If it doesn't kill you, it only makes you stronger.
