Once again meetings and plans for projects that are going nowhere and will likely result in no less congestion or maybe even more of it when plans backfire. Maybe I'm too pessimistic, but I doubt whatever they come up with will do anything beyond little or nothing to relieve traffic congestion.
In my opinion, if they really want to relieve traffic congestion, they need to start following the very same ideas Jun has been posting ever since he first became a member of this board. The problem is they do everything but follow those suggestions. They don't even follow their own plans. Anyone seen even the first bit of ground broken to build the tram we've now been hearing about for years?
If they had been doing the things Jun has been posting ever since he started posting his suggestions, I doubt traffic congestion would even be an issue anymore.

Pattaya Traffic Committee Moves to Resolve Congestion in Three Key Areas, Plans Public Hearings for One-Way System
By Adam Judd
April 27, 2026
The Pattaya City Council’s Committee on Administration and Maintaining Public Order is accelerating efforts to tackle chronic traffic congestion in three residential and commercial zones, with plans to introduce a One-Way traffic system and other measures following public consultation.
On Monday, April 27th 2026, at 10:00 AM, Mr. Anupong Puthanawarat, Chairman of the Committee, along with the Assistant Secretary to the Mayor, Pattaya City Council members, and relevant government officials, conducted an on-site survey of the problem areas.
The three targeted locations are:
– Moo Ban Saeng Supha 2 (Soi Khao Noi)
– Soi Arunothai 7, 9, and 11
– The roads adjacent to Central Marina Outlet (Soi 2 and Soi 3)
Mr. Anupong revealed that the inspection was prompted by repeated complaints from local residents. The main issue is severe traffic congestion caused by vehicles parking on both sides of the narrow roads, which reduces available space and makes it difficult for oncoming traffic to pass. This has created ongoing inconvenience for both motorists and residents in the affected areas.
He stated that the committee is now considering practical solutions, including implementing a One-Way traffic system or designating no-parking zones in these locations.
“Any measures taken must involve cooperation and participation from the local community,” Mr. Anupong said. “Therefore, the committee will organize public hearings (ประชาคม) to gather opinions from residents directly impacted by the changes.”
Official invitation letters will be sent to affected residents to ensure their voices are heard. The committee wants to reach a consensus that is acceptable to all parties before implementing concrete solutions, ensuring long-term efficiency and sustainability of the traffic management measures.

They have no idea. Fix these localised problems and all it will do is just move the traffic to the next problem areas. On Soi 2, those would be around the Dolphin roundabout and of course, there is an earlier bottleneck around Central.Pattaya News wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 6:37 am .....on-site survey of the problem areas.

As they are clueless, perhaps they should try visiting some cities that manage traffic better, just to see what can be done. Many central European cities would qualify.
The objective should be to eliminate traffic and provide better alternatives, ie that tram network. And if the tram routes interfere with traffic, well that's the whole idea -move the traffic OFF the roads.
