I'd imagine no one is counting & if they were, the figures would be useless as no one would be reporting it.

For example, I had covid last month when visiting Thailand. I had a very minor sniffle and only tested as I'd read about it here.

I just burst out laughing as symptoms were so minor. I re-tested with a different brand of kit the day after, just to make sure.

My Cambodian friend who I'd seen the day before didn't catch it. We figured he wasn't going to catch it. He came around 2 days later to see me and still didn't catch it. We were not social distancing;). I got him a test kit.

A Lao friend wanted to come & see me too, even though he knew I had covid.

Yeah thats you Jun, and it could be because you've been vaccinated, thats if you have of course, there are still people getting covid very badly and whilst no one is counting, somewhere along the way, there are stats which help no matter how they are done.

It does show quite a high infection rate.

Presumably the figures are highly unreliable when most people would not report their infections. Why report something minor ? Particularly in a country that was interning people with covid a few years ago, which was a great way to condition people to keep quiet.

I did notice quite a few people with light coughs last month, just carrying on as normal.

I do have sympathy for anyone who has been advised not to get a vaccine for medical reasons. On the other hand, I'm losing zero sleep over the anti-vaxxers.
I think quite a few board members had well timed vaccine boosters.

I had three Covid shots about four years ago. The Shingrix (shingles) vaccine in 2019. The Monkey Pox vaccine two years ago. Three Gardasil9 vaccine shots over the last three years.

I’m feeling vaccine fatigue,ha ha. Now my doctor wants me to get the pneumonia vaccine. And another one that begins with the letter S, forgot what one. I told her I’ll get the pnuemacokle pneumonia one.

My doctor had been urging me to get both. I finally decided to follow his advice. You can get both at the same time and it's a once-in-a-lifetime set of vaccines. It's on the expensive side, though - nearly 10,000 baht at Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital.

Their price for those vaccines is just about the same as I paid at Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital, so these are not vaccines for bargain hunters. People have to decide for themselves - what's more important, saving money or protecting your health as best you can by following trusted doctor recommendations?

A trusted doctor would be a novelty. Where I am, the local doctors score 1.7 out of 5 on google maps reviews. The only other one I can find with such a poor score is in the next village & that's run by the same people.

These overpaid clowns can't even read the results off a computer screen properly.

So I watch their every move, cross check everything and when it comes to vaccines, I sometimes make my own arrangements after careful research.
It's not difficult to compare what the health authorities in 2~3 different developed countries recommend. Then for those of us with no other known complications, make your own decision.

I don't mind spending the money. One example was paying for a private HPV vaccine. I was in my 40s at the time and in the UK this was only offered free of charge to schoolgirls. They now offer it free of charge to girls, boys and gay men up to the age of 50.
