You know when you’ve been here too long…
When you can’t walk in dress shoes any more.
When walking on a flat sidewalk without potholes throws you off balance.
When you actually care about being over-charged one satang at a market.
When seeing two people shaking hands seems like an alien gesture.
When you send messages to friends back home typing “555” instead of “LOL”.
When having a dozen near-misses on a motorbike seems perfectly normal.
When you go from tipping 100 baht to 20 baht at the restaurants.
When American tourists start looking like foreigners.
When the temperature drops to 32C (90F) and you have to wear a sweatshirt.
When you remember Makha Bucha Day but totally forget about Easter.
When you stop thinking to the point that you don’t even know what month it is.
No complaints mind you – as I much prefer sandals to dress shoes, don’t care what day it is, and never could figure out Easter anyway.
