Why do gays love ladyboy shows?

Post by SP55 »

Something I've been wondering for many years: Why do gay men love shows with ladyboys so much? I am in the minority who dont like it at all. So I'm really curious to find out what the obsession is all about?

I was reminded about this yet again when visiting a show in a gaybar in Jomtien complex. Act after act with ladyboys lipsyncing to music, showing off in colorful dresses and even exposing their silicon boobs. And the audience loved it! Thai gayboys cheering on! And old gay (?) farangs looking excited, applauding wildly and handing out 100-bills to the ladyboys.
I only appreciated the odd boy that once every third act or so appeared in the show too, but got bored with the focus on ladyboys.

And this is the standard in bars with shows. All focus on ladyboys rather than boys. It seems well recieved by the audience.
The only show in Pattaya that I enjoy is the X-bar show because that is - I would estimate - at least 80% boys and only 20% ladyboy lipsync to music.

I, for one, very much dislike them and won't have anything to do with them. I think Jun will have something to say about it too.

I have yet to ever meet anyone who says they do enjoy them.

I know many farang do seem to enjoy these shows, but I have no idea what the appeal is. Whatever, they definitely do not appeal to me.

I also avoid such shows and see no point to the lip-sync performances. I feel the same about the Tiffany and Alcazar shows. I've seen both but once is enough. I used to know a guy who performed in another similar but smaller show called "Simon's" which closed some time ago. He showed no signs of being a Ladyboy off stage and I would say in his case it was a Drag Act in the Western sense.

I can't stand ladyboy shows.

I've never understood why people who like boys would still be interested if they have a pair of silicone tits installed and dress up in a leotard with some silly headgear.

The most attractive lady boys are the ones who still dress like men.

Now if other gay guys, whoever they are, actually like lady boy shows, that's fine with me.
But I will never understand why almost every gay show in Thailand turfs the cute boys off stage just as soon as the show starts. Almost without exception.
Where is the diversity with that ?

Generally, I don’t care to see lady boy shows in a bar. However, the shows at the Tiffany and Alcazar theaters are so impressive in their staging, scenery, lighting, costuming, and choreography I think seeing them occasionally is worth a visit. I’ve also found it likely your new Thai friend would like to see the shows if only because he cannot otherwise afford the cost.

Ladyboys are the pinnacle of Thailand and are a huge part of the tapestry that separate's Thailand from just about every other place on earth. Not only are they widely accepted in the culture, but you won't find too many TV programs, movies, sports, entertainment venues, etc. where ladyboys aern't included, if not the centers of attraction.

I enjoyed ladyboy shows at local venues for a while when first coming to Thailand but got tired of them after a while. Tiffany's is one exception...always great entertainment. Another one I remember enjoying was Simons Cabaret which I first saw when visiting Phuket. But with those exceptions the others don't do too much for me.

I've always been highly attracted to "femboys" who, as most know, are just cute feminine boys who dress like boys with a soft touch - versus the full-fledged ladyboy. I would go to a show tonight if a place had nothing but slim - cute - femboys frolicking on the stage in their snug little undies. They wouldn't even need any music.

Quite a few other board members would probably visit such a show, definitely including me.

However, as far as I know, there is nothing like that ?
There are at least half a dozen bars with ladyboy shows and one or two with big muscular boys.
There are one or two bars with boys in shorts, but not fem boys.

I need to check out the M Bar show, but I gather they are overdressed. I briefly popped in last night, but it wasn't show time and all the best seating was occupied. They must be doing something right, as the rest of the complex was quiet.
