The link below shows International Livings (IL) "Best Places in the World to Retire" Index. I've been glancing at this for years (particularly before retirement) and find it interesting and informative.
You'll note that IL chose 17 countries in 2024 as the best places to retire - with Thailand appearing as 17 on the index. Thailand also appears as having the best Cost-of-Living with a ranking of 97 points which is decisively above the rest.
Too bad they don't include "Sex Entertainment/Availability" as one of their criteria.

Thailand's Cost-of-Living Ranking
Re: Thailand's Cost-of-Living Ranking
Unlike some of the countries on their list, it's actually possible to get a visa to retire in Thailand.
On the other hand, for some inexplicable reason, they have France in the top 10. Then they helpfully tell us that we can stay there for 180 days a year.
As far as I know, Pattaya wins that hands down. To the extent that it's even easier to find Cambodian or Lao lads in Pattaya than their home countries.
Admittedly, I've never been to South America. But I like cute Asians and I also like countries where I can walk around with no fear of being mugged.

That's a topic almost worth a thread of it's own.

Re: Thailand's Cost-of-Living Ranking
They have their opinion and I have mine - which is that I already am living in the best place in the world to retire and it's the best place in the world, period . . .
Re: Thailand's Cost-of-Living Ranking
Thailand might be a great place for holidays and retirement.
I don't think it's quite so good as a place to make or earn money, at least relative to western expectations.
I suppose a cute 20 year old Lao boy will find that Thailand is a better place to earn money than his own country.
However, I doubt many of us would recommend a fresh graduate from one of our countries should head to Thailand.
