Wise Transfers Days Instead of Minutes

Post by Undaunted »

I’ve been using Wise to transfer funds into my Thai account for a couple of years, with the exception of weekends and Thai bank holidays transfers happened in a mater of minutes however, during the last few weeks what used to take minutes now has become 4-6 days, anyone else experiencing this?

I haven't had that problem at all. Why not contact their customer service and ask about it? I've had occasion to contact them and they are very quick to respond, sometimes the same day. And they do actually respond. You get a real answer, not some canned response.

The odds of a proper response increase dramatically when the company is run by the founder, as in this case.

And if the staff don't reply, e-mailing the founder or other directors usually results in a positive response, assuming the query has some merit.

I spoke with customer relations and they acknowledged that some ACH transactions are running late.

Did they say why? 4-6 business days - that's late.

I transferred US $1000 a few days ago using WISE with ACH transfer from my bank in the USA. The funds were credited into my Bangkok Bank account in 7 seconds. Amount:
1,000 USD
Rate:
36.045
Wise fee:
8.20 USD
35,749.43 THB is now in your account.

I'm surprised that this hasn't been discussed on other boards. My last two transfers immediately popped up and said something on the order of, it will be three days before your money reaches us (transfers from two different banks, but BOTH of them last week/weekend). I have used Wise for years. These were transfers to my Thai accounts. Both were OVER $1000USD

At the same time, I did a transfer into my Philippines Bank account (a few hours to complete) and to my GCASH (a few minutes to complete). All taking from the same accounts. Both were $1000USD or less.

@undaunted was the first person that I read having the same issue as me.

In response to your previous post, since it shows 4 days for the money to get from your bank to Wise and then Wise doing the transfer on the same day, wouldn't that be a problem with your bank dithering over payment to Wise ?

I'm not quite sure how it is in the US these days, but about 20 years ago, the UK banks used to take about 4 days for bank transfers, although debit card payments were instant even then.
Then the UK government passed a law requiring instant bank transfers. Which is exactly what we get with online banking.
I gather this is relatively common in other countries, but by no means universal. I'm sure you can enlighten me on the current US situation.

Have you paid Wise with some form of instant transfer ?
If so, what explanation does your bank have ?
