There are some good restaurants within easy walking distance. My favorites are the Lido Italian restaurant, The Corner, and the Ratsstube German restaurant.
I noticed this evening the sign for Ratsstube missing from Sathorn soi 1 and went down soi Goethe to investigate drove into the Gotethe institute and Ratsstube was gone. Yet their web page is up and active. Ratsstube has been there a long time, I remember going there around 20 years ago.
I am beginning to sound like a broken record. Closed, and gone again and again.

Ratsstube was gone.
Damn! In my opinion that was the best German restaurant in Thailand. I wonder why it's gone. The several times I ate at Ratssube there was never a shortage of customers.
Trip Advisor says "open" I'm not sure what's going on. I tried to ask the parking lot attendant but he did not understand my English or Thai.
I just had the BF call and they said they are open. The lighted sign is just broken and will be replaced soon. Yet, last night the place as all dark and closed at 7:30 and to that they say, no? I give up.

Their website appears to be down
I just tried it. It opened just fine for me.
Meanwhile a topic about Hotels in Bangkok and Chiang Mai has now morphed into a topic about whether the Ratsstube restaurant is open or closed. If it's open, we did them a big favor by giving them a lot of advertising being read by many who probably never heard of it until now.
