Gaybutton wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 3:18 pmAs far as I know, immigration does - at least when their officers can keep up with the changes every two minutes.
1 Aren't immigration separate from the police ? So like a totally different branch of the mafia.
2 What we do know about immigration is:
(i) For appropriate fees, agencies can achieve things not permitted by the rules
(ii) Jomtien immigration appear to be deliberately trying to make the customer experience as awkward as possible, possibly with the intention of driving customers to agencies.
The customer experience at Hua Hin immigration was far more pleasant, almost like they are trying to be efficient.

it seems like there's even more Arabs (Kuwaiti's) than before.
No surprise there. Since apparently these morons consider going to Pattaya and behaving like that to be an ideal holiday - and they can get away with it with virtual impunity, more of them going to Pattaya could easily be their response to "Wish You Were Here" messages.
I wonder if the police have even visited the motorbike rental shops renting out motorbikes illegally, much less penalized them in any way.

If they were renting out bikes illegally, surely the uniformed mafia would be collecting their tea money on a regular basis ?
It's getting to the point that there's not too many farang roaming the sois in that area any more - at least from what I've seen during my last few visits. Before the Arabs took over you would always see farang in the early mening hours going to 7/11...visiting one of the local coffee shops...or cutting across soi 17 to walk to soi day/night or Wat Chai. Now all I see are Arabs on bikes.
Sad, because for years I started almost every morning with a visit to Monty's Bed & Breakfast - which later became Two Guys Guesthouse. And when Two Guys closed our gaggle of friends met for coffee at Sonongs which sat just behind Two Guys. These morning meetings with my friends spanned 20 years. Lots of fond memories. To say it's depressing to see the area overrun with motorbike crazed Arabs would be an under-statement.

There's almost nothing there any more. Dumb Covid policies even finished off many of the convenience stores in this part of town.
In the high season, there are far fewer Arabs & I sometimes walk down there. However, this is always on the way to somewhere, with no reason to stop.
Anyone visiting during the Kuwaiti hooligan season would probably learn to not even walk down there.

Hopefully not end up learning the hard way. Now that a new government is coming in, maybe the powers-that-be will proactively prevent this from happening again next year or ever again. But I won't be holding my breath.

I stayed in Yensabai condo for 4 months every year for 18 years. Three in the winter and one in July/August.
Wasn’t just the Arabs that made me move was also the downturn of Sunee and BT.
Now stay in Jomtien and love it.
Smart move!
Its' always best to "go-with-the-flow"...accept the changes going on around us (it's inevitable)...and just go where it's fun and ignore the rest.
I still have a few friends who reside at Yensabai, thus the reason I visit that area occasionally,...not sure why they're still there...and know that if it were me I would have moved several years ago for the same reasons you mentioned.
