U.S. Senate Confirms First Political Ambassador to Thailand in 47 Years

On July 15, 2019, the WH announced the president’s intent to nominate Michael George DeSombre to be the U.S. Ambassador to Thailand. The U.S. Senate confirmed his nomination on January 8, 2020. (More at ...)

If his qualifications are as stated in the article, and not exaggerated or embellished, he seems ok to me. I hope it works out that way.

Actually, he is the former worldwide president of Republicans Overseas.

I wouldn't have expected Trump to appoint a Democrat, so that part comes as no surprise to me.

If we're REALLY lucky, maybe he'll reinstate the income verification letters and embassy outreaches. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Well his resume is impressive, I would have thought the ambassadorship would have been given to an inexperienced big money donor
