Gay Dancer Gold Robbery

Post by Undaunted »

This article claims he worked at a venue on Beach Road, I suspect they mean Boystown:

Not your typical twink. A guy that size would stand out at Tawan. I'd buy him a drink.

Just a guess, from his looks he might have worked in Boyz, Boyz.........and there is nothing in the article to indicate that he is gay.

That's right. For reasons on my "I Don't Get It" list, the local news media seems to always want to make a point of it when they decide someone is gay. Maybe they are trying to perpetuate the stigma.

The fact that a boy is a dancer in a gay bar does not necessarily make him gay. Some are 'gay-for-pay.'

And if the person is gay, so what? I fail to see how his sexual preference, whether gay or anything else, has anything to do with the fact that this person was arrested for theft from a gold shop. Why is that even mentioned? Why don't these reports ever say something such as "A heterosexual man was arrested today for . . . ." whatever?

Agree. The Pattaya Daily News covers his arrest but does not ID him as gay.

From what I read on the forums, and based on my own experience, I'd be surprised if more than half of the non-fem guys you'll encounter in a bar, massage shop or even on the apps are gay.

Having said that, my drink offer still stands.

I agree completely. Perhaps some more pressure is required to bring them in line. I suppose this needs to come from Thai society, not expats.

It's not just Thailand.
In the UK, The Daily Mail newspaper made some slur about one of the brexit judges being openly gay & got a lot of criticism from other media sources.
The fact they still thought it's OK to do that shows there is some way to go.
They wouldn't dream of being derogatory about skin colour, so why sexuality ?

GB, I did not say that it didn't.

I was simply making the point that a different Pattaya media outlet reported the story without any reference to sexual orientation, or even that he worked in a gay venue. It was, overall, an objective account.

I believe I was reinforcing your point.

What are you getting defensive about? Your post made no mention of Pattaya One. I pointed out that Pattaya One does include the gay part. That had nothing personally to do with you.
