The problem was not so much the sun-worhsipping, but the rampant corruption and money-grabbing by the renters/vendors of such chairs etc. AND the (red shirted?) former Phuket-mayor and his cronies.

Yes. It's not my idea of a decision reversal when only 10% of the beach area will be allowed to have loungers and umbrellas. But at least that's something.

Phuket is a yellow shirt province and city, as most of the southern provinces. Thailand is corruption is top to bottom, red shirt, yellow shirt, it makes no difference.
