2nd presidential debate - viewing and event schedules for Thailand

Post by Gaybutton »

Dear Pattaya and Eastern Seaboard Dems....Beertopia Presidential Debate,
Monday 10 Oct. starting at 5:30 details below!! Loran D, Chair, DAT Pattaya

Calling all US Democrats in Thailand!

Wow, what a week in politics! I know you’ve all seen it. Donald Trump’s Hollywood tape has set an all new low in US presidential politics, and in his so-called “apology”, he promised to go after Hillary Clinton. He apparently thinks the only way he can survive is to savage his opponents with no holds barred attacks. Will Hillary weather the attack and continue her winning form that was on display in the first debate? It’s going to be ugly, but she deserves our support in this critical debate.

So where are going to watch it? If you’re like me, it’s a work day on Monday morning in Thailand – and plus, what’s the fun in watching it by yourself? Fear not, Democrats Abroad is here – and we’re showing the taped version at debate parties in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, and Ubon Ratchatani on Monday night, October 10! Come out for drinks and dinner with your family and friends, and surround yourself with fellow Democrats to cheer on Hillary as she defends herself against what will certainly be the most vicious attacks that The Donald can come up with. Or even if you’ve already watched it, re-live once again the multiple zingers that Hillary will have inflicted on desperate Donald! All are welcome, see the details below.

REALLY IMPORTANT! If you haven’t registered to vote yet, you’re running out of time – don’t let it happen that you don’t have a say in this most important presidential race. Don’t put it off, you can register to vote and get your absentee ballot at http://www.votefromabroad.org, or come to our debate watching events on the night of October 10 and we will help walk you through it. It’s simple and only takes minutes. Our experienced volunteers will be on hand in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pattaya to answer your voting questions.

You can also pick up the new DAT Thai-English Hillary Stronger Together t-shirt (see samples on our Democrats Abroad Thailand Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/DemocratsAbroadThailand/

Here are the schedules for the debate parties on October 10.

Chiang Mai: Event will start at 7:30 pm at Old Chiang Mai, 185/3 Wualai Rd, Haiya, Muang, Chiang Mai, telephone: 053 202-993-5. Please let us know by emailing [email protected] if you’re planning to come.

Ubon Ratchatani: Event will start at 7:00 p.m. at the lobby of the Ubon Hotel, 2 Ubonkit Road, Muang district, Ubon Ratchatani, hotel telephone: 045 241 045. For more information, contact James Powell at [email protected]

Don’t forget, it’s super easy to register to vote and get your absentee ballot – you can do it online with us at the event. Using our VoteFromAbroad.org system, it literally takes a few minutes to apply, and get a fully completed and printed out application that you simply sign and mail to your registrar of voters in your home state.

We’re also looking for volunteers to help us out with the events, and helping call your fellow Americans in Thailand to come out and vote – if you’re interested, let me know at [email protected]

Any questions, send me a note at [email protected]

See you at the debates!

The Donald did better than expected but I don't think anyone changed their minds as a result of this second debate.
The personal attacks from both sides are getting tiersome, people watching want to hear substance not snipes.

CNN POLL OF DEBATE WATCHERS..............57% Hillary winner 34% Trump winner

Lock her up, lock her up, lock her up, Trump's performance will appeal to his base but the bar was set so low he will probably stop his campaign hemorrhaging only temporarily. Am I the only one who recalls the Bush administration(and RNC) setting up a private server so all those emails planning the Iraq war and WMD's could never be traced, were deleted (millions) and the perpetrators(Bush, Cheney, Rice) could never be prosecuted? Double standard?

The bar ~ that infamous 'bar' ~ was pretty low for Trump right off the bat: i.e. don't have massive illiterate meltdown in front of 80 million people.
And he didn't. Good on yeh Donald ... what a man.

On the way to essentially 'tying' Hillary in terms of substance ~ another low bar experience ~ he charmingly threatened her with a trial and then jail time if he managed to become president.
The two refused to shake hands on entry (probably because Hillary was a bit nervous that he just might try and grab her pussy instead). Each softened up a bit at the end and shook digits ... but no man hugs.

Trump - 50
Clinton - 50
This debate compared to the last 40 presidential debates - minus 89
