Muslims: The Strangers in Our Midst
America for years benefited by sheer distance from the Islamic mideast ("Inshalla"), the percent of Muslims in the populous is negligible. It will stay that way. Through asinine foreign polices and meddling in the mideast and Northern Africa has bitten the U.S.A. in the ass. I am 100% behind a No Immigration policy from nations in these regions. God help Germany and the rest of Europe.

I assume you wrote that to get reactions, but in the off chance you are serious, I wonder what you think that would accomplish. Since there has never been a terrorist attack in the US from Muslim immigrants, the only effect of such a policy I can think of is to serve as a powerful recruiting tool for Isis and other extremist groups.Undaunted wrote: I am 100% behind a No Immigration policy from nations in these regions. Re: Muslims The Stangers in Our Midst
The largest terror attack in the history of the US was by moslems. Whether they were temporary or permanent immigrants is irrelevant. If you don't have them in the country in the first place, you don't have the problem.RichLB wrote:Undaunted wrote: Since there has never been a terrorist attack in the US from Muslim immigrants, the only effect of such a policy I can think of is to serve as a powerful recruiting tool for Isis and other extremist groups.
In Europe, we have an idiotic policy of allowing them in & we are rewarded with multiple terrorist attacks.
Look around the world. In a large percentage of the places where there are problems, it is due to moslems not tolerating other groups, or even one moslem group not getting on with another.

Since September 11 2001, an unarmed U.S. citizen is more likely to be killed by U.S. law enforcement than by any terrorist group.

Re: Muslims The Stangers in Our Midst
Yes, but the fact is the 9/11 attack was perpetrated by Al Qaida. Since then, as far as I know, whether the criminals were Islamic or not, with rare exceptions nearly every terrorist attack in the USA was carried out by native born Americans who had lived all their lives in the USA. It doesn't always have anything to do with religious beliefs. Timothy McVeigh is a perfect example.Jun wrote:The largest terror attack in the history of the US was by moslems.
I think it is wrong to assume that a few represent them all. I believe that kind of thinking took place in another country during the 1930s and early 1940s. We all know the result. One of the main reasons for it was an irrational belief they were all part of a conspiracy to take over the world and were considered enemies of that country. They also dressed differently and often behaved differently.
Now less than a century later, here we are doing exactly the same kind of thing to a different group - based solely upon the actions of a few. At least this time none of the western governments are setting things up to murder every one of them they can get their hands on, but I see an inherent problem in blaming and condemning all because of the actions of a few.
I don't have any idea what the solution is, but condemning millions for the actions of a few, to me that's wrong.
I do, however, resent the fact that perfectly innocent Muslims don't seem to rally behind a serious effort to condemn the radicals acting in the name of their own religion and they don't seem to cooperate in any kind of serious effort to seek out the radicals and stop them. I see it as wrong to condemn them all, but I also see it as wrong if they're not making a serious effort to stop the radicals who are destroying their own ability to coexist in western countries.
It's a two-way street.

Obviously you're referring to Trump's comments on Immigration.lvdkeyes wrote:Spoken like a T Rump supporter.
Firstly I am not a Trump or Clinton supporter.
I do believe in a road to citizenship whereas an Immigrant who is already In the U.S. If he or she joins the Armed Forces upon the successful completion of their service they automatically receive citizenship and their families become eligible to begin the process of becoming citizens.

Re: Muslims: The Strangers in Our Midst
I can see both sides of the argument. No Muslims in the country would make some feel safer while others wouldn't be prepared to discriminate against the many because of the actions of the few. Both are valid positions. Personally I wish folk would stop infesting other peoples lives with their ridiculous religious views. Can't get my head around the fact that anyone still believes in all this God/Allah/Prophet Muhammad bullshit.
Re: Muslims The Stangers in Our Midst
The vast majority of terrorist deaths around the planet are from Islamic terrorists. It may be a small minority who are active, but they enjoy the support of a larger minority. Whilst the alleged moderate majority are strangely silent.Gaybutton wrote:I don't have any idea what the solution is, but condemning millions for the actions of a few, to me that's wrong.
Their religious leaders could say more too, if they are truly opposed to terrorism.
They are also intolerant of other beliefs & totally fail to integrate into broader society. Whilst most other immigrant groups manage it just fine.
Trump might be a complete idiot & very very dangerous, but he is damn right about not wanting any more moslems in the US. Even if he is not approaching the issue in an intelligent manner.
I just wish European leaders would put a complete stop to immigration from the middle East & North Africa. For the people on boats, all they need to do is put them on another boat & send them forcibly straight back, whilst sinking the original boat so it cannot be reused.
Any humanitarian aid can be provided in their own region, so they can all go home when it's blown over.
And for what it's worth, I don't see their middle Eastern neighbours rushing to help their fellow moslems either.
Re: Muslims: The Strangers in Our Midst
Agreed. Thankfully christianity is being rapidly marginalised in Europe, as a result of decades of an education system that finally encouraged people to think for themselves.Captain Kirk wrote:Personally I wish folk would stop infesting other peoples lives with their ridiculous religious views. However, we're introducing another problem with a less open minded creed moving in.
