See, lvdkeyes, the beauty of our system is that people are entitled to have their personal opinion of elected officials and candidates, whether others find their reasons "credible" or not. Whenever I've been to a polling station, strangely enough nobody has ever asked me to justify my decision, I can just shove it down their throats. So can everyone else, and as a society we have to live with the results.

I don't want to make this a thread about Hillary and her faults (or my perception thereof). It's about Trump. My dilemma was that I wanted to agree with the consensus (Hillary trumps Trump) without suggesting that I'm a Hillary fanboy. I think I got that point across, so let's leave it there.

If Hillary is elected, does Bill become the "First Man"? Somehow I can't see Bill planning White House dinners, shopping for new China, or personally conducting tours for VIPs.

Years ago, when the Clintons first occupied the White House, a joke I liked was: "The Secret Service has dramatically increased the security and protection surrounding Hillary. After all, if something happens to her, Bill becomes President."

If Trump is elected, I hope we'll still have something left to laugh about. On Inauguration Day, the outgoing president and the incoming president traditionally ride together to the Capitol in the same car. If Obama and Trump ride together, your guess is as good as mine as to what they might talk about. I have a feeling the conversation might include Obama saying to Trump, "You have to go where? Why didn't you take care of that before we left?"

(Joke stolen and paraphrased from Bob Newhart's 'The Kruschchev Landing Rehearsal')

Thank goodness for that. Why any board member who could have responded would want to support Donald Trump goes beyond me. And Mike Pence, his Vice Presidential choice, is just as bad.

RichLB,

I agree wholeheartedly with your statements about Obama's accomplishments and wish he could run for another term. He's a man of great character...and with Trump all you get is a character.

Trump is nothing more than a well-polished con man who is obviously addicted to HIMSELF...sees all others as merely pawns in his game...hears no one but HIMSELF...sees no one but HIMSELF...and has honed the skill to identify with other peoples vulnerabilities and attacks those vulnerabilities relentlessly until the deal (which only favors HIM financially) is sealed. If these are the most prominent traits of a con artist I don't know what are.

The GOP is LIVID!

The second night of the Democratic National Convention drew a total of 24.7 million television viewers—approxiately 25 percent more than the second night of the Republican National Convention.

The DNC’s first night also topped the RNC’s, pulling in 25.74 million views, compared to the RNC’s 23.02. The numbers for this year’s ratings comparisons were compiled from averages of NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, and Fox Business Network viewership. While the 2016 DNC topped its RNC competitor, it did not out-rate the second night of the 2012 DNC, which garnered 25.12 million viewers.

Houston Chronicle endorses Hillary Clinton for President, says Trump is "danger to the Republic."

The Chronicle editorial page does not typically endorse early in an election cycle; we prefer waiting for the campaign to play out and for issues to emerge and be addressed. We make an exception in the 2016 presidential race, because the choice between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump is not merely political. It is something much more basic than party preference.

An election between the Democrat Clinton and, let's say, the Republican Jeb Bush or John Kasich or Marco Rubio, even the hyper-ideological Ted Cruz, would spark a much-needed debate about the role of government and the nation's future, about each candidate's experience and abilities. But those Republican hopefuls have been vanquished. To choose the candidate who defeated them - fairly and decisively, we should point out - is to repudiate the most basic notions of competence and capability.

Any one of Trump's less-than-sterling qualities - his erratic temperament, his dodgy business practices, his racism, his Putin-like strongman inclinations and faux-populist demagoguery, his contempt for the rule of law, his ignorance - is enough to be disqualifying. His convention-speech comment, "I alone can fix it," should make every American shudder. He is, we believe, a danger to the Republic.

^^ Truly despicable of The Donald. Something good might come out of it though, even some of the blind might now see his true colors...

If there is any better confirmation that The Donald is actually only 6 years old, I can't find one.
The New York Times has quite the database: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016 ... .html?_r=1
Have no fear Gaybutton, you're not on that list :o
