Re: Trump Supporters
I wouldn't let Sarah within a million miles of the White House, should the president fall under a bus. Have you seen her family? Stupid, full of shit and fucking nuts.

Some of us feel the same way about Trump.thewayhelooks wrote:I wouldn't let Sarah within a million miles of the White House, should the president fall under a bus. Have you seen her family? Stupid, full of shit and fucking nuts.
Re: Trump Supporters
Today CNN reported this quote, which echoes my sentiments exactly.
President Barack Obama said that America is already great and does not need a "self-declared savior" like Donald Trump to fix it, adding that only Hillary Clinton is fit to succeed him.
Obama said Americans are not a frightened, fearful people living in a "divided crime scene" as envisioned by Trump, and can only solve their problems by coming together and being faithful to the nation's founding ideals.
"Our power doesn't come from some self-declared savior promising that he alone can restore order as long as we do things his way. We don’t look to be ruled," Obama said. He was joined on stage by Clinton at the end of the third night of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
“There has never been a man or a woman -- not me, not Bill, nobody -- more qualified than Hillary Clinton to serve as President of the United States of America,” Obama said.
Re: Trump Supporters
I don't agree with President Obama, I see the need to fix certain things and America could be greater than it currently is. But since it's coming from the incumbent, what would you have him say instead? That he contributed to screwing up the country? Unlikely.
I do agree that Trump wouldn't be a suitable president, obviously. And that's really the only reason why I'm for Hillary, I despise the person she has become and I think she is a nasty piece of work nowadays (I did like the young, idealistic Hillary R; I think her transformation is a travesty).

Re: Trump Supporters
Is it really necessary that the USA becomes greater? Do we need a bigger army, larger navy, more nuclear weapons, etc? Why? Do we want to rule the world? Empires crumble if they overgrow their bounds.
Re: Trump Supporters
Alex (above), you make a couple statements that confuse me. Firstly, you say Obama contributed to screwing up the country. How so? Unemployment is at the lowest level in 8 years, the stock market is at record highs, crime rates are half what they were when he took office, and the list goes on. I know Fox News ignores facts in favor of wildly unsupported claims, but what has he done that you take issue with?
And secondly, you characterize Hillary as a "nasty piece of work". Really? The only criticisms I'm aware of are the e-mail "scandal" which several independent investigations have stated were non-criminal and that independent server that excited Fox News so much was a practice of Colin Powell, Condoliza Rice, Albright, and several others. Then there's Benghazi. What would you or anyone else suggest she should have done? Help was several hours away and would not have arrived in time to save our diplomats. When contrasted to the travesty of Trump, do you really think those transgressions (?) compare?

Re: Trump Supporters
RichLB, I've already answered your last question, by saying that Trump is the only reason I'm in favor of Hillary becoming president. I won't go into detail explaining what I don't like about her - since I'm kind of forced to vote for her anyway, because the alternative would be Trump. But I do feel frustrated, it's not the kind of choice I like. And I guess you need to read the Obama part of my post again. My point is that he's the incumbent and thus it's only natural that he's saying America is already great - anything else would mean that HE is leaving the country to his successor in a state of mess. The truth, of course, is somewhere in between.
Re: Trump Supporters
That's fair enough. Given what he inherited and a Congress that explicitly said they would do everything possible to make sure Obama would be a failed president, I am amazed that he has emerged as one of the best presidents we've had in decades.Alex wrote:My point is that he's the incumbent and thus it's only natural that he's saying America is already great - anything else would mean that HE is leaving the country to his successor in a state of mess. Re: Trump Supporters
Alex. I am interested what it is about Hillary that you don't like. Many people say they don't like her, but no one seems to give credible reasons for it.

Ditto. I would like to know, too.lvdkeyes wrote:Alex. I am interested what it is about Hillary that you don't like. Many people say they don't like her, but no one seems to give credible reasons for it.
"Democracy doesn't work if we constantly demonize each other . . . for progress to happen, we have to listen to each other, see ourselves in each other, fight for our principles but also fight to find common ground, no matter how elusive that may seem."

Somewhere in between? What mess? Where?Alex wrote:I guess you need to read the Obama part of my post again.
