I hope not. Even if he wins and also gets a Republican majority, that doesn't necessarily mean they're going to be virtually a rubber stamp for Trump. Let's hope we don't have to find out the hard way.

Here is website which may be helpful for expats. Federal Voting Assistance Program

fvap.gov

If all else fails you may submit the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB)

As for Trump, if he won, not only would he control the courts he also would make appointments in the Military including head of Army, Navy, Airforce and Marines. Little doubt there would be aspiring officers who may not be the best or brightest but would do whatever to get ahead.

I looked at that site. While it may help others, I don't think it's going to help me vote. The first thing it wants you to do is:

Voters Start Here
Military and Overseas Citizens select your voting residence State

There is a drop-down list to select your state. There is no option for people who have no voting residence state. As I said in an earlier post, I don't have a voting residence state anymore.

Oh well, I guess whoever wins or loses will just have to do so without my vote.

Maybe it's better that I won't get to vote. I certainly would not have voted for Trump, but remember how I said I would vote for Hillary Clinton? I lied. I would have written in my real preference - the person who I know would be the finest possible choice:

Gaybutton, I don't get your problem. Your "voting residence" should (forever) remain your final residence before moving away from the U.S. It's not a requirement that you still own that property or continue to have any ties to it at all. So unless you don't remember your last U.S. address, I don't see why you'd be unable to use it.

See
https://www.fvap.gov/info/laws/voting-r ... guidelines
https://www.fvap.gov/citizen-voter/overview

The second link in particular contains information on what you can do if you don't receive your absentee ballot in time. There's really no reason why The Quail shouldn't get your vote. ;)

I used the FWAB when voting in the Missouri primary. I sent it to them by mail and they acknowledged by email. I will be in the US for 4 weeks Sept-Oct. They advised me that absentee voting opens for the November 8, 2016 General Election on Sept. 27, so I'll do this while there.

I was impressed with overall attention they gave me. Superlative. I encourage everyone to use the FWAB form. There is no excuse not to.

This is an extremely important election. FWIW, I will NOT be voting for Trump.

That makes two of us. But very good. You've convinced me. Now get Florida to send me an absentee ballot. I've used my previous address. I've used close relatives addresses. I've been trying everything I know to do to get an absentee ballot for the last two years. The higher ups with Democrats Abroad have tried to help me get an absentee ballot. Meanwhile, no ballot and no response.

I'm not even surprised that I can't get Florida to send me a ballot. Florida is great at screwing up just about everything. Remember the hanging chads bullshit with the Bush-Gore election? That's how Bush got in instead of Gore.

Quite frankly, I've had it with bothering to try anymore. I hope Hillary wins, but unless they send me a ballot she's going to have to do it without me.

I don't think they send it to you, you download it online and then mail it to them. You still have plenty of time. I hope this helps you, it is a link for ballots in the state of Florida. Good luck. Don't let Trump win.

I'll try that. Maybe I'll get to vote after all.

I see they allow write-in voting. Good. Here are my choices:

VICE PRESIDENT

Are you sure you want me to finally get an absentee ballot? Of course, when you think about it, even they would be a better choice than Trumpolini . . .

Florida is considered a swing state and the race could be quite close. Even one vote could make a difference in a tight race.

GB....
Regarding the unwillingness for your previous home state to provide an absentee ballot, I other the following. First, I admit that I am a cynic by nature.

If one was previously a resident of a red state and is registered as a "D" or an "I", there may be a hesitancy to supply an absentee ballot. In the last decade, red states have become more stringent in their controlling voter ID requirements. Some say to curtail certain votes.

Just a thought.

I might add that my state of Delaware permitted me to do all online. But again, Delaware tends to be a blue state.
