He was a wheeler dealer as president too. His pro integration and civil rights policies would otherwise never have gotten through. Yes, certainly Vietnam was his downfall. And I think we all know what caused Nixon's downfall - Watergate and his own paranoia. To me, they both could qualify as Shakespearean tragic figures.

I think Trump is a wheeler dealer, but I also think he's the wrong kind of wheeler dealer. I believe if he gets elected, he's going to wheeler dealer us right into another war. I think it would only be a question of time before he does. The only questions in my mind are how soon and against which country(s)?

My opinion - Hillary is the right person, the right choice, with the right experience, and at the right time. If I finally receive an absentee ballot, she has my vote.

I am not sure, but I think you can contact the embassy about getting a ballot.

That was one of the first things I tried. Unfortunately, the embassy has nothing to do with absentee ballots. Absentee ballots for presidential elections are issued by your official residence state. My residence state was Florida. That's where I applied for an absentee ballot.

I'm guessing the problem for me might be that I have been away from the USA for so long now, I no longer have residence status in any state, including Florida. Don't forget, a USA president wins by electoral votes, not popular votes. In presidential elections, what you're actually voting for is electoral representation from your home state. Whichever presidential candidate wins 270 electoral votes, that's the next president.

Since I no longer have any legal state residence status, which means I am no longer a legal resident of Florida, then which elector from which state would my vote go to?

Unless I'm missing something, my presidential vote would have no place to go. Maybe that's why my request for an absentee ballot is apparently ignored or considered invalid. If that's the case, it would be nice for someone on the issuing end to at least send some sort of notice to me explaining why I don't get to vote for president.

Apparently, I've ended up becoming one of those people who just fall through the cracks.

Even so, I'm still an American citizen and I'm supposed to have the right to vote in national elections. Maybe I have the right, but I'm having problems obtaining the means to exercise that right. Something else for Mr. Trump to fix if he can take a couple minutes from his busy schedule of fixing everything else . . .

The US system is quite strange. You elect a group of people to run the country and then another to stop them from doing it. Clinton talks the talk but ultimately really justs wants to be president because that's her ambition and she'll say just about anything to get it. I wouldn't trust a single word she comes out with. Trump winning just means the world has finally lost its head.
Don't really know jack about Sanders but listened to a little of what he's been saying recently. Shame he didn't get the ticket. At the very least he seems to have a passion for the causes he argues for while the other two just want the title.

I'm not sure about Trump getting the US into another war, but I'm pretty certain he will turn the US into an international laughing stock. That's what childish, ignorant megalomaniacs tend to do at the end of the day.

Hasn't he done that already? But it's nervous laughter. The most frightening thing - he could win.

Better get that ballot, Hillary needs all the help she can get, and now we have the breaking DNC Wikileaks story, things not looking good.

This is a quote from Trump last December. If he's elected I guess we can say goodbye to freedom of speech.
Donald Trump wrote:We're losing a lot of people because of the Internet and we have to do something. We have to go see Bill Gates and a lot of different people that really understand what's happening. We have to talk to them, maybe in certain areas closing that Internet up in some way.
Somebody will say, 'oh, freedom of speech, freedom of speech.' These are foolish people… we've got to maybe do something with the Internet because they are recruiting by the thousands, they are leaving our country and then when they come back, we take them back.

It's scary because so far it's looking more and more like Trump stands a good chance of actually winning. I hope that changes. There are still three months left before the election. Maybe it will.

The one hope, if he does get elected, is much of what he touts cannot be done by the President alone. He has to have Congress pass the laws and if there are Constitutional challenges, he also has to win in court.

When I look at Trump making his speeches, I realize I could superimpose another face to replace his and see essentially the same thing.

Whose face?

Unfortunately, that underlines two scarey aspects of this election. If the American public actually votes Trump in, it is likely the Republicans will hold both the Senate and the House eliminating that brake on his actions. Even worse, the next president will likely appoint three new Supreme Court justices giving the Trump train a 7 to 2 majority. Those two results would eliminate all controls over Trumps agenda. This is truly a frightening possibility.
