Funny Boys has been my favourite bar for many years, including my February/March trip this year. I hope manager Noom and his staff make a go of the place.

I agree Daniel, and I sincerely hope it doesn't go the same way as Happy Place did when, that too, was taken over by the staff.

Last Tuesday night (7 June) I noticed Funny Boys was dark inside and no customers. A staff member come outside and told me "no boys" in the bar.
Anyone know whats going on there now?

I don't know, but I have a guess. If it was sold, my guess is whoever bought it is waiting for high season. Kind of pointless to open now. People are saying the bar scene has changed. One of the reasons for that is so many gay farang, for whatever reasons, have not been coming to Pattaya in anywhere near the numbers that used to come.

Fewer customers=fewer boys. If it's too few, it's awfully difficult for the bars to take in enough money to at least break even, let alone make a profit or even survive. I believe the best chance for a new bar owner is to wait until high season, when there is the most potential for decent customer numbers.

Last night we went to Funny Biys for an afterdinner drink before the Boyzboyzboyz show. Usually when a Gogo bar
has only 4-5 boys on stage, I don't go in, but when Roy opened the door in his shorts waving us in, I couldn't resist.
Roy is often outside and has an incredible manly body and knows how to make me swoon.
Only one other farang in the bar and he gave each dancer a 100 b. tip, which was appreciated with applause.
When we passed by again around 11:30, Funny boys was closed.
I spoke with new Thai owner about the flashing lights and suggested they be adjusted as they were annoying.
Of the five boys on the stage, all were attractive with 2 stunners. I hope they get it together soon.

I'm astonished to read that; my boyfriend long ago taught me that mocking someone's appearance is unacceptable for Buddhists and my experience over twenty years is that the Thai guys working the scene behave better than this. My commiserations....I'd have been both hurt and furious, if that's possible.
I hope the owners read this.

I was in a bar once years ago, when I noticed the boys snickering at a farang customer. He had nodded off and his toupee
had shifted and almost fallen off. There was also a large puddle around him on his seat. It was an absurd sight.

Gogo boys see extreme obesity, extreme ugliness, extreme aging and extremely bad fashion senses, such as mixing
plaids pants and shirts. Hard to imagine a farang's appearance would set them off

I'd venture a guess that one of the boys knew the poster, didn't like him and was telling the other boys about a micro penis
or bad smells or something kinky involving waste products.

Or there could have been one boy who was sarcastic, in a weird mood or just rude and obnoxious and a nasty bugger.
Gogo boys put up with extreme appearances in order to make money and grin and bear it or move on.

I recall a story one boy related of an extremely fat old man and his failure to find the old mans penis. He pantomimed
lifting rolls of blubber and searching. The other boys cracked up. One can only imagine what the boys say about their
customers to each other.

Thais mock each others' appearance all the time, both on TV and in real life. I guess they aren't Buddhist, then. But I do agree that it's unacceptable to mock a customer's appearance; it's also not in the bar's interest at all.

PeterUK, just to put that in perspective, do you have any history with the boys in question, or maybe with some of their friends?
