Smart TV Box
Smart TV Box
Has anyone bought/used a Smart TV Box? It is apparently a gadget that plugs into a HDMI port on your TV and then converts even a non-smart TV into a smart TV allowing you to stream movies, games, etc. wirelessly to your TV. If you've ever used this thingy, I'd like to know how you like it and if it actually does what it promises.
Re: Smart TV Box
RichLB,
A friend of mine gave me one of these so-called boxes, mine is the size of a Bic cigarette lighter. He purchased it on a China web site 9 months ago and I understand that now you can find a few of these so-called boxes at Tuk Com.
I am not much of a TV guy and never had cable in the States so I really don't know how it compares---not a clue.
The devices need some programing / downloading of apps for them to work. I have not a clue how to do that stuff as my friend did it for me before giving it to me.
I've been using mine for 6 months and I am as happy as a tornado in a trailer park.
I simply plugged in the HDMI and USB cable into the back of my TV and it works like magic.
There are thousands of APPS that can be loaded onto these devices. The one I see on my device is called KODI.
It allows you to search for ANY old U.S. TV series and movies.
Once it (the device) locates the program you want to view, it then shows you the dozens of streaming sites to chose to watch your program.
You chose the streaming site that works and enter DONE on the screen.
I highly recommend buying a wireless mouse and/or keyboard to make it easier to navigate the virtual keyboard on the screen, with this device.
As most of you know, the Android world is a work in progress. They are always upgrading the bugs in all Android devices. My device works very well and am amazed at how far technology has advanced in the last decade.
I personally am totally happy with the device i use which cost 1000b. Prices vary from my cheap device to over 9000b. Not sure what the differences are other than the higher priced ones have more options. Not a clue.
For what it's worth, my actual device is called:
MINI TV for android
Quad core MK808B Plus
I would assume that you can search for that and find more information and maybe instructions how to download the APP on this device.
Cheers...
