Re: The 50 weirdest and coolest facts from LGBTI history
Thank you very much for posting that. It shows that gays have been part of humanity for thousands of years and was perfectly acceptable in multiple societies until more recent times. I'm not sure just when or just what provoked the anti gay sentiments that still exist today, but I'm glad to see it slowly, but steadily, becoming acceptable to mainstream society again. I'm glad to be living where, for practical purposes, it already is.

One of the items contained on that list really jumped out at me as someone really missing a trick for pushing a political message and making a few quid too ( perhaps for good causes rather than their own profit ideally) and that was item 17 about the formation of the micro nation called "The Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea Islands" which is just off the coast of Australia.
Whilst the formation of the "Country" was intended as a bit of a political dig and a joke towards the Government of the day and like most micro nations is not of course recognised internationally it still struck me that a real opportunity was being missed by them to do the whole "gay people worldwide can apply for citizenship" and then them issue of 'Passports" to same LGBT "citizens ( all for a small online fee of course) plus I see they already issue stamps and a range of merchandise etc so there's another money making scheme for them and I mean just how cool / funny would it be ( as a fun thing / joke ) to be able to declare to people "Yes, Im gay AND I even have the passport to prove it !"
And on a more serious note they could if set up correctly and democratically etc ( as opposed to working under the Emperor they have now lol) use their "Country status" to campaign on a worldwide platform for the upholding of gay rights where needed.
Stranger things !
I for one would apply for the passport at least and try to use it at every (UK) I passed through just for the crack ( whilst having my normal passport in my back pocket ready for normal use of course and you know I'd almost bet in some smaller Countries they just might even accept it !
