Re: What restaurants are closed?
Several have changed hands and some close during low season, but in Pattaya - as for closed and gone, the ones that immediately pop into my mind are:puan wrote:Thank you. What other restaurants are closed?
Village Chinky
Alois
Manhattans
Deli-zza
Street Life
Aquarius
Purple Space Monkey
Chez Vicki
Great American Rib Company
Sunrise Tacos (same owner and location, but new name and new menu - Steaks and Subs)
Papa David's ("The Dark Side" location. The one in Jomtien is open as usual)
Sure Park (on "The Dark Side")
Red Palm (on "The Dark Side")
Nana Deli (on "The Dark Side")
Pasta Basta (on "The Dark Side")
I can't think of any others at the moment. If anyone knows of others, please post. Of course, if you know of others at locations besides just Pattaya, please post those too.
Re: What restaurants are closed?
Mignon (Jomtien)
Great American Rib Company has been closed for some time. Captain's Cove is the new restaurant at that location.
Papa David's in Jomtien has been closed for many months.

I believe they are closed, but will reopen for high season. Of course, that assumes with all the brouhaha going on in Thailand there will even be a high season.windwalker wrote:Le Bouchon in Sunee Plaza.

Re: What restaurants are closed?
I think you forgot New Orleans Restaurant in Boyztown. It's closed and appears to be in the process of being remodeled into some sort of bar. A couple of others that are closed, for some time now--Shenanigans in the Avenue, White Night in Sunee (and the recently opened restaurant in the same building already closed), Renoirs at the Flamingo, Dolphin Restaurant in Day-Night, Clubber and Sammy's in Sunee, Monty's Restaurant ventures. Ole Restaurant in it's old locations with it's Wednesday night buffet, Luxor in Day Night. I remember a few more that have closed, but I've forgotten their names.
Re: What restaurants are closed?
We've lost a lot of reliable and commendable restaurants lately, some having unique menus only found in their establishments. With Alois closed, does anyone know where we can enjoy eating a Japanese Kobe Steak once again?

Subs 'N Steaks? I went by there tonight and the place was dark. Their usual day off is Monday. Plus there is now a sign that says For Sale/Rent.

Re: What restaurants are closed?
L'Olivier which has operated in the same location in Jomtien Complex since November of 2003 has now closed their doors.
I dined there early on and was a regular customer for many years even as the founder, a very nice Frenchman, sold the place. Unfortunately the menu changed very little over the years and it became quite tired and boring. My friends and I stopped going and so did many others apparently.
There is a sign on the door that they plan to re-open as a new place on July 4. We'll see.

Re: What restaurants are closed?
I'm sorry to see them go. I always liked L'Olivier, especially their salad bar.richsilver wrote:L'Olivier which has operated in the same location in Jomtien Complex since November of 2003 has now closed their doors.
It goes to show how observant I can be. Last night I walked right by L'Olivier and didn't even notice. Not much an excuse, I know, but I was paying attention to all the boys on the opposite side of the soi.
I hope a good restaurant replaces L'Olivier.
