I realize that restaurant reviews are a dime a dozen, but it looks like it’s been nearly 2 years since any were reviewed on this site.
No particular order or reason other than I decided to eat at four places I had never eaten before or places I haven’t eaten at in years. I wasn’t concerned so much about price as I was getting a decent breakfast.
18 Coins located in Soi buakhao. http://www.18coinsrestaurant.com/
Great English breakfast. Eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, toast, proper ham, sausage, fried potatoes, black pudding ,coffee and juice. Can’t remember but about 150b. Very filling, outside seating for smokers and plenty of parking for a motorbike. Staff was pleasant and service was fast, proper napkins and the coffee was ok but not from a bon café coffee machine. (I could be wrong) I will certainly return when I visit Pattaya again.
Next up was Greg’s Kitchen http://www.gregskitchennorthpattaya.com/
Another great English breakfast. Bon Café coffee, proper toast pretty much the same items as above. Clean and peaceful environment. The owner, Greg was present and introduced himself and asked if everything was ok. Nice chap. Good service and food tasted good. Another place I will return to next visit.
On Thursday I tried the Cucumber restaurant across from Tuk Com. I ate here about 6 years ago when they first opened and was not at all impressed. I will have to say that the Cucumber has improved 100%. Very nice outside garden setting plus inside air conditioning available. Clean and the English breakfast was delicious. Proper Bon café coffee with free refills. Good service and pleasant staff. I think the English breakfast was 195b and well worth it. This is the best out of the four I tried this trip.
On Friday (today) I tried Coco’s Bistro and coffee shop. http://www.cocospattaya.com/
At 295b for the English breakfast, it was the most expensive of the four. I sat inside in the comfort of air conditioning and nice environment. Breakfast was served including eggs, ham, tomatoes, proper hash browns, toast, black pudding, mushrooms, coffee and juice. The coffee tasted like crap and I asked the waitress if this was fresh brewed coffee or instant coffee. She insisted it was bon café coffee. I walked to the back of the establishment where the coffee machines are. I again asked if this coffee was made with the bon café machine ----pointing at the machine. Apparently they brew up coffee and then put it in a stainless steel pot. Who knows how long the coffee had been in the pot before it was served !
Richard came over and asked if everything was ok. I told him the food was very good (it was) but the coffee sucked. He explained that there are 2 grades of coffee and that with the breakfast they serve the cheaper grade but for 30 or 40 baht more they would provide a decent cup of coffee. I told him that you bill your place as Coco's Bistro (and coffee café on the signage) and at 295b for an English breakfast one would assume a decent cup of coffee would be served with the top of the line breakfast.
He did offer to make a proper cup but I declined. He was pleasant about my comments (unlike the female staff who had that look of how dare you complain). I told Richard again the food was good but I will be posting on the forum about the poor tasting coffee. Next time I will order tea.
That’s it boys and girls. Your comments are always welcome as usual.
Cheers…

I don't know where you're getting that from. The last review was posted March 27. That's 9 days ago. Nevertheless, your reviews are certainly helpful and appreciated.DeE wrote:it looks like it’s been nearly 2 years since any were reviewed on this site

I think his reference was to these 4 restaurants for which he might be 75%-100% right!
