If you folks want to discuss the demise of Bin Laden, fine. However, I just removed posts bickering with each other. Wrong board for that. Stick to the subject and keep personal squabbles out of it. If you want to argue and get personal with each other, use the PM function to do it. Those kinds of posts appearing on the board are going to be wiped the instant I see them. Discussing the issue and debating about it is no problem. Discussing each other is a problem and I think I've made it clear I'm not going to have it on this board.

Whether that photo turns out to be genuine or altered is really not the important thing. The important thing is Bin Laden is dead. I haven't seen any dispute about the authenticity of his death and I can't imagine that Obama would have gone public confirming Bin Laden's death unless he was absolutely certain. It would totally destroy his credibility and probably also destroy his chances of reelection if he made the announcement and then later had to say to the world, "Whoops!"

So, Bin Laden is finally dead and gone and his death has probably had a serious effect on the terrorists, but I doubt it has put an end to terrorism.

The only dispute I've seen is Pakistan has been claiming to have been involved in the actual operation and the USA is saying Pakistan was not.

That's it! I just deleted about a half dozen posts which again were personal bickering posts when I specifically asked everyone not to submit those kinds of posts on this board. I also said I will wipe any such posts the instant I see them. I meant what I said.

I've about had it with the personal squabbles. I'm not having it on this board. Since some here apparently think the board rules apply to everyone except themselves, I'm going to make it abundantly clear: The next poster who violates the rules here is going to be banned from this board. If you can't stick to the issue instead of getting personal, then don't post.

I think the news is all over the planet by now, so there is little point in repeating it. The thing which interests me most is where he was found...
in a million-dollar hideaway built especially for him in 2005 in a rather tony suburb of Islamabad, filled with retired Pakistani military.

It seems very hard to believe that all those senior retired military were, like, Totally Unaware of who was living in that high-security compound. It reminds me of going out to dinner in Chiang Mai many years ago, and slowly becoming aware of this huge concrete mansion across the road, with high walls and (presumably) ferocious dogs.
