Just wondered if anyone knows of anywhere that has good internet connection even sharing someone's flat for nomad working, I work from home at the moment here in the UK but can work anywhere, Thailand included (provided I get a visa of course, another subject). I will set up my two screens and my laptop and away I go. You may well say, anywhere, but it has to be reputable and a good internet and a nice place of course, and I don't mean a little table and dinner chair, I've got a good set up here in London, I aim to work there about 2 months at a time.
2nd subject is digital nomad visa, how easy is it to get do you think, they say online but wonder how many people are refused. I would hate to be refused because it means they might keep an eye on you if you go to Thailand, a refusal for a visa is a no go in my opinion, rather go as a tourist and not work.
Thoughts.

Re: Digital nomad visa and working in Pattaya
I would think your best option would be to stay in a hotel that has good, reliable WiFi and work from your room. I can't recommend a specific hotel because I don't stay in any Pattaya hotels. Perhaps someone else can post a recommendation.
Are you sure you even need a digital nomad visa? I would suggest contacting the Thai embassy, explain to them exactly what you are trying to do, and let them tell you if you need that kind of visa or anything else.

Some hotels have good internet connections and some have atrocious services.
My preferred hotel has a good connection and when I test it, I usually get several hundred mbps. Obviously this is good for all purposes, including video conferencing.
The hotel across the road has an atrocious connection, where it's barely possible to open a website.
Now, whilst my hotel internet is good, it is sharing a connection with other users, so in theory, I suppose the service might depend on who else is there.
Whereas, I presume you could install your own private fibre optic connection in an apartment.
Which area are you thinking of staying in ?
I'd imagine agencies have high success rates for visa applications, due to greasing the wheels.

Re: Digital nomad visa and working in Pattaya
Not sure which area but probably around near Baan Souy, thats where Im used to..
Mind you a good Internet connection can be got from your phone in Thailand, these days, not here in the UK. Yes, I think that is possible one solution, as you say Jun, the place across the road is atrocious quote unquote,
I don't really want to stay uptown, I don't mind Jomtien area either.
I think I have to do some research because its no use doing it without the place being decent.
Was hoping that someone on here might say they have a place.

GB
they are cracking down on people without visas in Thailand, all it needs is someone who has grudge for you to have two screens in your room and before you know it ...
Tourist visas are only going to last a month soon anyway.

Check your Private Messages.
However, if you plan to do 3x2 month visits per year, a digital nomad visa might make sense, instead of regular 60 day visa applications.
They are considering reducing the visa exempt period to 30 days. I'm not aware of any proposal to reduce the visas to 30 days. UK citizens can get 60 days, or 90 if over 50 years old (?).whitedesire wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2026 7:52 pmTourist visas are only going to last a month soon anyway.

Before you know it what? Who's going to know, or care, if you have two screens or twenty-two screens? And if someone who has a grudge finds out you have two screens, so? Since when is the number of screens a person has in his room fodder for some sort of consequence? Is there some law against it that I don't know about? What on earth do you think could happen because you have two screens in your room?whitedesire wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2026 7:52 pm all it needs is someone who has grudge for you to have two screens in your room and before you know it ...
In other words, what are you talking about? Better still, what are you worried about?
Whatever you're being paranoid about, you're WAYYYY overdoing it.

You're probably right GB, Ive no idea, Im just assuming, you've got to admit though immigration and doing stuff can get one into trouble. Im pretty straight when it comes to running foul, I like to do things the right way, and yes a lot of people wouldn't bother but I do care, and ..

Re: Digital nomad visa and working in Pattaya
There are workspaces available, theres one i just saw 24 hour access 6450 but per month, they can even rent two screens to you, looks full of westerners but hey, next thing is find a nice hotel apartment next door to it, which shouldn't be too problematic. Now deciding on whether I should bother with a digital nomad visa or not after GB saying why should I worry. We'll see.

I see no trouble about what you're trying to do, but don't go by what I think. Again I suggest asking the Thai embassy or, even better, when you arrive in Thailand, go to immigration, explain exactly what you want to do, and let them be the ones to tell you if there is a problem and, if there is, what you can do. Better still, ask both the embassy and ask again at immigration in Thailand. If they both tell you the same thing, I think you'll feel like now you're for sure in the clear.whitedesire wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 8:37 am you've got to admit though immigration and doing stuff can get one into trouble.
I believe they're going to tell you there is no problem at all, but it certainly can't hurt to make sure.
