It's Gonna Get Hotter Than Hell!!!

Post by Dodger »

Thailand's slated to have one of the hottest summer seasons in a long time starting now - with temperatures forecast to reach as high as 53C in some areas which must be some kind of record.

I'm not looking forward to it, but at the same time I'm not complaining either. Living here allows me to miss those freezing cold winters in Chicago, and at least I can still go swimming, albeit I will go earlier in the day so I don't fry like a pancake.

I just picked up a box of electrolyte sachets, a few bottles of sunscreen, and a supply of Gatorade as I do every year at this time. Other than that Jai and I just try to limit our time outdoors between 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM on the scorching hot days and allow our AC units to do what they're supposed to do.

I go for my fitness outings along ocean before the roosters wake up at 4:00 AM anyway so I'm OK there.

I would strongly advise senior citizens to avoid doing outdoor exercise's after 10:00 AM at the latest....wear a hat...drink lots of water to stay hydrated...and limit your alcohol intake unless you plan on spending all your time indoors.

I wonder what Songkran will be like this year with the HEAT, plus fewer tourists due to the "Trump Effect"... :(

Well, in theory and practice, living by the sea seems to reduce the extremes of temperature ?

As I see it, there are 2 reasons to choose Pattaya & surroundings over other areas of Thailand. Boys and climate.

However, please correct me on the issue if appropriate.
So far, I've never stayed beyond mid-late March, so have missed the worst of it.

April is usually the hottest month of the year - and May, June, and July are not much cooler. If we're in for an unusually hot one, I agree with Dodger that you need to be prepared for it and protect yourself from the dangerous aspects of it. None of us are getting any younger, but it would be nice to be able get any older . . .

April is my least favorite month for two reasons: Songkran and hot weather.
Nowadays, I spend the whole month of April in China, where it's spring!
