TV Box Recommendations

I've had cable TV service for years provided by a local cable company here in Bang Saray but the quality of the signal has really gone downhill and now I want to get my own box that runs off my home wifi router.

I see Android boxes advertised a lot but don't have any experience with them.

I have two TV's which are not "smart". Both have HDMI connections. AIS is my internet service provider. I want a few foreign movie channels - sports channels - BBC and CNN news - and a few Thai soap operas and cartoon channels for you-know-who...555. We cannot install satellite dishes in my condominium.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I can't answer that, but I would make a personal visit to a TV repair shop. more than one if necessary, and ask them what they have or can at least recommend.

If you actually intend to use this box on a regular basis, I'd research it very carefully.

In the UK, I bought a Manhattan box, with some internet TV and a TV recorder. So I can record events like the Grand Prix and fast forward through the adverts.
These were well reviewed, however it was still prone to crashing. I reported this. Their helpdesk sent me several software upgrades, clearly all for testing, rather than proven upgrades. Eventually one worked quite well.

Reliability is now tolerable, although I don't make use of it particularly frequently. Life is too short for that.

Have you checked with AIS?

They are also my internet provider. Since I use them for my mobile phone service, they had a package that I selected which included Fiber Optic cable, dual band router (2G, and 5G), and set top TV box with several channels including BBC World News and BBC Lifestyle. The package also included Netflix (Basic HD, Standard HD, or Premium 4K). It only requires the HDMI port on the TV - there is only one box, so I have mine set up on my big screen TV in the living room. My monthly fee for phone, internet, and play box is about 1,500 baht per month.

They have several packages, so look for one that includes what you want.
