QR payments are also common in Cambodia.
However, out of over a dozen financial services apps on my phone, only Kasikorn and Wise support QR codes. Neither recognise Cambodian QR codes.
Thai and foreign debit cards ought to work at Cambodian ATMs. Have you tried that? Are ATMs readily available in Cambodia or are they few and far between?
When you pay cash in Cambodia, what cash are you using - Thai baht?
It is normal to pay in USD here, but having notes in good condition is important.
They don't have cents, so small change is in Riel, at around 4000 Riel to the Dollar.
Cambodia has many ATMs, but they charge $4 and sometimes more for withdrawals.
I got my first batch of USD from Superich in BKK. All nice new $20 bills and a better than mid market rate from THB. I may need to use an ATM before the end of the trip. On previous trips, these have dispensed USD.
Cards are widely accepted. Maybe even more than in Thailand. However, my number one expense is likely to be boys (cash).
