The article does not say how extensive this wall might be - only in the disputed area or along the entire Cambodian border? A bit more difficult for Cambodian boys to sneak into Thailand. If it comes to be, Trump will probably want the wall named - after himself . . .
If such a wall is built, would Cambodia leave it alone or try to destroy it? Is thought also being given to some sort of border wall with Myanmar?

Anutin promises a border wall with Cambodia
December 30, 2025
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has promised to pursue a border wall project, contingent on his Bhumjaithai Party retaining administrative power after the general election next year.
Mr Anutin, the Bhumjaithai leader, said on Monday that the plan to build a wall along the Thai-Cambodian frontier and a policy to strengthen security forces will remain intact if the party wins the poll on Feb 8, according to various media reports.
The financing for the barrier's construction will primarily come from the defence budget as part of a national security enhancement campaign, he added.
The caretaker prime minister emphasised this stance during his visit to Ta Kwai Temple and Hill 350 in Phanom Dong Rak district of Surin province, areas that experienced significant border clashes between Thai and Cambodian troops before a ceasefire on Saturday.
The Thai armed forces plan to build the border wall in phases, starting in uncontested locations, likely beginning with Pong Nam Ron district in Chanthaburi province. The wall is estimated to cost around 7 million baht per kilometre, excluding the expense of a patrol road constructed behind the barrier for security purposes.
In October, the Thai arm pledged to act on the initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana by building a "Thai-Cambodian border wall" to improve the safety of soldiers and civilians living in border areas.

Politicians are the same everywhere.
They never miss an opportunity to better serve THEMSELVES.

Re: Anutin wants a border wall
I think the question is where would they build the border wall? Anything built in the wrong place deserves to be blown up.
Thailand produces about 35~40 million tonnes per year. Much of it used on wasteful projects.
With a similar population and far higher GDP, the UK produces about 7.3 million tonnes.
A big CONCRETE wall sounds like another chance to benefit the cement makers. Board rules prevent me from elaborating further.

Like Jun said - board rules prevent elaborating further. Try checking with Google. There will be NO discussion about it on this board.
This is not the first time subtle hints have been posted. I will thank you for making sure this is the last time. Any I ever see again will be deleted. Folks, if any of you wish to put yourselves at risk, no matter how remote, that's your affair. But I'll be damned if I will tolerate anyone putting me or this board at risk, no matter how minor or remote that risk may be.
Instead of worrying about what such a wall might be made from, the issue for this topic is your thoughts about the concept of Thailand building a border wall - no matter what it is made of. And since the article makes no mention of what the wall might be made of, assuming it would necessarily be concrete is merely a guess.

Sorry, I would hope a factual enquiry should cause no issues. However I will abide by your decision, of course.
Re: Anutin wants a border wall
My thought about the concept of building a wall are that it would probably follow the same pattern of every other government construction project.Gaybutton wrote: ↑Wed Dec 31, 2025 8:05 pmthe issue for this topic is your thoughts about the concept of Thailand building a border wall - no matter what it is made of. Ie Using egregious quantities of their favourite building material.
Which appears to be the sole objective of many state construction projects. We already have decades old trains providing a lousy and infrequent service on expensive elevated concrete lines. With elevated stations and long concrete platforms, about 5 times the length of any train. No sign of an improved rail service.
Parallel to these new and underutilised lines, in some cases they are building even more extravagant high speed lines.
The practical difficulty of a wall would be deciding exactly where to put it. To prevent such a wall being blown up, they need a mutually acceptable definition of the border. Once they have that, they don't really need a wall.

Re: Anutin wants a border wall
I don't see how such a wall would make Thailand security any better than it already is, no matter what the wall would be made of. I can also see it backfiring if Cambodia tries to destroy it and triggers off more military action and making life miserable for the local population.
In short, I don't understand what this wall would actually help.

Re: Anutin wants a border wall
Right now Thailand doesn't have enough laborers to build the THE WALL due to the banning of Cambodian construction workers - so maybe they'll have to re-hire the Cambodians on a temporary basis to build the wall.
