Opening Thai bank account

Yesterday I opened new bank account with SCB in Central festival branch Pattaya. The only required documents were my passport and Thai elite card. At the moment SCB probably among the most flexible options.

Having paid 500,000 baht or more for that elite visa just may have helped a little bit . . .

I wonder if you could successfully have opened the bank account without it.
