Bangkok police raid drug-fuelled sex party

Bangkok police stormed a luxury hotel in the Sukhumvit area early Sunday morning and arrested 29 men — 28 Thais and one Filipino — at what they described as a drug-fuelled sex party.

The operation took place around 12.30am at a high-end hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 13 in the Watthana district. The raid was ordered by national police chief Pol Gen Kittharath Punpetch following a tip-off about drug parties among “upper-class” circles.

Some 50 officers from several narcotics suppression divisions launched the surprise raid. Inside the hotel’s suite, they found dozens of men wearing only underwear. Many were reportedly engaged in sexual activity when the raid occurred.

Police confiscated a small quantity of methamphetamine (1.11 grammes), two meth pills, a bottle of liquid ecstasy, ketamine (0.75 grammes), two boxes of Viagra, 30 bottles of amyl nitrite (aka poppers, a popular inhalant used as a sex aid and recreational drug among men who have sex with men), syringes, drug paraphernalia and a large number of condoms and lubricants.

Three people have been charged so far for possessing illegal drugs. Urine tests confirmed drug use in four individuals. They were handed over to investigators at Lumpini police station. Other attendees were being profiled and questioned for further investigation.

Pol Maj Gen Teeradej Thumsutee, deputy chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said an undercover officer — a muscular, well-built man sent to infiltrate the party scene — gave the tip-off about the private gathering.

“The event was organised by the same group previously arrested during a similar operation in the Thong Lor area on Dec 8 last year,” he said.

He warned that amyl nitrite is intended for medical use but is often misused recreationally, particularly among gay men, to facilitate anal sex. “Using poppers without medical supervision is illegal and dangerous,” he said.

Whatever the police do I just hope they don't throw those poor half-naked boys in jail.

I'd be more than happy to house them here in my place under strict house arrest of course until their time is served.

The danger with poppers of course is if you take them while you are using viagra/sildenifil. Its either one or the other... I think poppers of themselves used in moderation are relatively safe... Its the combo that can be the killer. All this assumes you are reasonably healthy otherwise...

I wonder who that was, how he got the task (volunteered?), - and what he was doing at the moment the raid occurred. And since apparently the police had enough where and when information, why did they need an undercover cop in the first place?
