That qualifies me. I'm not sure just what the issue is, but I've never been with a boy who seemed to care about my age. What they cared about most was how much money they end up with. And it wasn't money for tea . . .

Re: Boys
If you consider the average age gap between yourself and the boys you spend time with - which I'm guessing is somewhere between 30-40 years, it's clear that the limits they set, if any, are extremely liberal.
It's extremely rare that a Thai boy would turn his back on an admiring farang because of the farangs age, although I've seen them turn their backs many times if a farang has an undesirable personality (bad karma).
Re: Boys
I also would have to guess. These days, if a boy looks clearly old enough, I don't bother checking ID.
In one of the cases where I decided that an ID check was an absolute must, it turned out he was 25. On a Cambodian passport, not some forged ID card.
I suspect quite a few of my regulars are in their late 20s.

Re: Boys
I think most of us are well aware that to western eyes Thais very often look far younger than their actual age. One Thai man with whom I am especially close had dinner with me and an American friend who was in Pattaya for a holiday. He guessed my Thai friend's age at 23. He nearly fell off his chair when we informed him my Thai friend is actually 45. To me he doesn't look a day over 30.
So it comes as no surprise to me that Jun felt compelled to verify the age of a young gent who turned out to be 25.
I suppose many farang have been surprised when they discovered a boy of interest who they thought was 18 or 19 was in reality years older. Imagine what those boys must have looked like when they really were 18 or 19 . . .

Imagine their surprise when the boy they thought was 18-19 was in reality years younger. This is actually more common IMO.
Working boys could care less what age a farang is.
Boys who are interested in a farang as a boyfriend have a different set of criteria which we've discussed numerous times on this forum. Fortunately, for those of us who want Thai boyfriends, large age gaps is not a huge deterrent as long as those other criteria are being met.

Re: Boys
I don't know how common it is, but I do know it happens. I remember one time I was approached by a boy who said the familiar "I go with you". I was interested, but knew something was wrong when I asked to see his ID card and he balked at letting me see it. I told him I won't take him without seeing it. It turned out he was 16, so I told him sorry, but he'll have to wait 2 years. He said "Police not know". I responded with "Maybe police not know, but I know." I walked away and never saw him again.
That was back in the days when Pattaya was a magnet for pedophiles and some of you will probably remember bars such as Gentlemen Club, Playboy, Boys Studio, and Amigo Pub where many of the boys were much younger than 18.
Pattaya has not been like that for years, so I wonder where those pedophiles go today to do their "pedophiling".
Re: Boys
If a farang had sex with the boy who had an ID saying he was 18 - and then later on found out that the boy carried a fake ID and was really 16 - the farang would still be in legal jeopardy. If the farang was or wasn't a pedophile (or pederast) is something only his psychiatrist would know.Gaybutton wrote: ↑Tue Sep 09, 2025 10:10 am

Re: Boys
My nearest brush with that was offing a lad from a Soi Twilight bar, mistakenly thinking they would all be of age. He was 3 months short of his 18th birthday, a bit too "Fresh" for my liking. So he was sent away.
At the moment, I'd imagine the average age of lads I meet is over 25 and it works just fine. They're still cute & have a good attitude.

Re: Boys
That reminds me of a true story that happened many years ago, when Jim Lumsden was in charge at the Ambiance Hotel. Their desk clerk had somehow lost his Thai ID card. He searched everywhere he could think of, but couldn't find it.
Then, a couple weeks later, a farang entered with a boy he intended to take to his room. The Ambiance policy was to hold ID cards as a security measure, returning it to the boy when he leaves, but after the farang says everything is ok and nothing was stolen.
When the boy presented an ID card the desk clerk was amazed when he checked it and saw that the ID card was his own - the one he had lost. Of course he denied entry to the boy and the farang was enraged - not at the boy, but at the desk clerk. The farang did not get to take the boy to his room. The boy was banned from ever entering the Ambiance again. The farang left in a huff. But the desk clerk was delighted to get his ID card back.

Maybe a good idea would be to use AI for creating kiddies porn. Then no one would be harmed in the creation and hopefully would satisfy the pedophiles to just watching the porn.
Then there’s the argument that watching porn is the gateway to actual molesting. But it could work.
