I was standing in line at a small sewing shop in Soi Day Night the other day watching a very cute young girl behind the counter pushing buttons on her smartphone. After a minute or so had passed a song started playing on her phone that put me on the moon. The song was "I Believe" by Tata Young which happened to be a top hit in Thailand 20 years ago when Pattaya and neighboring Sunee Plaza were at their peaks.
What blew me away was the fact that this song transported me back to when Hollywood Disco was still operating - not a stone's throw from where I was standing. All I could do was envision me walking with a group of boys on our way from Sunee to Hollywood - back when life was so surrealistic it was like a dream
I just stood there frozen with my eyes closed - buried in a flood of memories and submersed in nostalgia.
Funny how music can do that.
