One of my Asian MB friends hasn't been in Pattaya since 2023.
He doesn't usually say much, but eventually he confessed he's still banned from re-entering Thailand & it sounds like he has a 5 year ban for overstay.
He's living in a third country now, although it sounds like he is going for visa runs from there.

One of my newer Cambodian friends also doesn't want to talk about his visa runs, as he doesn't bother.

I don't know much about my Cambodian friends' visa status in Thailand. Only one once told me comes visa free through an illegal border crossing. A Myanmar friend did the same, and once had to pay 5000 THB to police to be released (in Thailand, continue staying without visa, not even a passport as far as I know). Bad luck for your friend, as I'm sure in most situations a few 1000 would have solved the problem.

Implications for boys overstaying & their acquaintances:

1 Having sex with anyone who is not legally in Thailand is presumably not your problem, but if he were to move into your residence, I presume you need to notify immigration. With obvious problems if he's not there legally?

2 Travel to countries with stricter immigration rules (Europe etc)
I'm not sure what the record keeping is like here.
Stamps for exiting Thailand are no longer necessary, as they have electronic passport gates for exiting the country. Although, after leaving Thailand, I suspect even locals get stamped into Cambodia, in which case missing stamps might be questioned ?
Do other countries have access to electronic immigration records for Thailand ?
Finally, if being deported from Thailand & getting a 5 year ban on re-entry results in a big stamp in the passport recording this, I suspect that's going to be picked up when applying for a visa in many countries.

Of course, not many boys travel to Europe, but that still leaves some who do.

Incidentally, as far as I can tell, the majority of boys I meet claim to do visa runs.
Sometimes, that's backed up by evidence, such as a sudden increase in distance on their phone app profile, or photos on social media.
They're not all spending hours on a bus either. Quite a few of the Lao boys fly home or to near the Lao border when doing visa runs.

No, unless he pays for his stay. Or unless he stays more days than described by law (in many countries it is 7-14-30 days, depends on guest's nationality)

I gather some board members live with a boyfriend, presumably for years.
If the boyfriend happens to be an illegal immigrant and the board member owns the property, what's the risk ?

The Pattaya City Expats Club in their Immigration section has the following information regarding the requirement to report a foreigner is staying in a residence even if not paying for the stay - the Form TM.30 is used to make the report to Immigration:
If the foreigner stays overnight, Thai Immigration law requires the address be reported within 24 hours of the arrival. If arrival is on the week end or holiday when Immigration Offices are closed, it should be filed the next business day it is open. The Thailand Hotel Act covers the penalty for businesses licensed under the act. For others, the Immigration Office may impose a fine, which will vary depending on the Immigration Office's policy - usually based on how late the report is made.

Chonburi (Pattaya) Immigration Office has usually imposed a fine of 1,600 baht but is known to waive or increase it at the discretion of the Immigration Officer.
If you have foreign visitors that stay overnight or longer in the property, their residence at the property must also be reported to Thai Immigration on Form TM.30 Form within the prescribed time frame.

I presume the illegals must ensure their landlord doesn't notify immigration.

The other question is do they rely on hotels not notifying immigration or avoid overnight stays with guests ? One such lad did offer to do long time with me recently, but I declined as he usually goes to sleep at about 5:00 am.

Either boys decide the time to message a farang is when they are in the shower, or they're introducing a bit of fiction to spice up the conversation ?
This is not the first time....

(No connection to preceding posts).

I was a little slow this morning, after a few beers last night. I was just about to slope off to the coffee shop at about 10:30, when my current favourite Cambodian boy shows up. Uninvited, inebriated and in tears. Looks like he carried on all night. I comfort him for a while. He wants to crash out in my room. I'd rather not set a precedent that he can sleep off hangovers at my place any time he likes. For a start, it could limit my other activities. So I escort him back to his room, in the most considerate way I could manage. This was only my second ever visit to a boys room.
The previous time, three of them were sharing in Sunee Plaza and taking ice.
There's no evidence of this boy consuming anything other than alcohol. He has his own very basic room, about twice the size of the bed. After a limited range of clothing and the phone, he has next to nothing. It's quite an eye opener.

I always tip him well and I think he gets some other customers, but I suspect too much goes on partying.
