Pattaya Police Warning: solo tourists targeted by lady-boys

Post by Gaybutton »

The police do what they can, but there simply is not enough manpower to protect everyone, everywhere, at all hours.

The onus is on you to use common sense - when going out and about, don't carry anything with you that you don't want to lose, especially gold or other jewelry and wallets.

Police warn tourists about transgender group targeting solo travelers in Pattaya

By Pattaya Mail

January 25, 2025

Authorities in Pattaya have issued a warning to tourists following the arrest of a transgender group accused of preying on solo travelers in the area. The suspects confessed to targeting individuals walking alone, particularly those wearing visible jewelry such as necklaces or carrying wallets. Quiet locations, including sections of Pattaya Beach, were identified as their primary hunting grounds.

The group reportedly used distraction techniques to approach their victims and steal valuable items. After committing the thefts, they sold the stolen goods and used the proceeds for personal entertainment, such as visiting bars. Authorities stated that once the money was depleted, the suspects would repeat the offenses.

The police have emphasized the importance of vigilance, advice tourists to avoid displaying expensive items in public and to travel in groups, particularly in less crowded areas. The recent arrests came after police tracked the suspects using surveillance footage and witness testimonies.

This warning serves as a reminder for all visitors to remain cautious and aware of their surroundings while enjoying Pattaya’s attractions. Law enforcement is continuing its efforts to enhance safety measures and protect tourists from such incidents.

The ladyboys seem to love robbing the Indians.

Maybe it's those bulky gold chains they always have hanging around their necks - contrasting with their dark skin that makes them such tempting targets. Who knows, but one thing's for sure, if the ladyboys along the beach at night spot a drunk staggering back from Walking Street with a gold chain flopping around his neck he's gonna be a few baht lighter when he gets home...

Ladyboys don't just target tourists. One of my Lao acquaintances had a passport stolen by one on a Songthaew.
I gather it was in an open topped bag. Bar boys often don't keep their property secure.

Wouldn't being Lao make him, technically, a tourist . . . ?

Technically, yes. However In practice he's lived in the same room in Pattaya for years.

We all know to look out for thieving lady boys on Songthaew and so should he.
However, many bar boys tend to not take good care of their property like we would.
