According to Thai law (1996 Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act), a person soliciting sex may receive a 1,000 baht fine, but there is no mention of them being arrested or serving any other penalties...Never Happens!
Pimps, which I assume would include businesses that employ prostitutes, could face a 20,200 baht fine and could be imprisoned for one to ten years...Rarely Happens!
* Note: There was a situation years ago where a gogo bar owner in Sunee got fined using this law, although this was after he apparently refused to pay the BIB their tea money. He wasn't the brightest bulb on the tree.
There are no penalties that I can see regarding customers, with the exception of those caught engaging in sex with children under 15.
The only thing I can see that's stopping them from just deleting this useless law and making Prostitution legal is the "Tea Money". Same old story.
