Just find a place (and a boy) that suits your needs and enjoy. (things change) As mentioned before, I always found it best to return to the same boy(s) once they know where your buttons are at.

That's what I have been doing. But sometimes a new lad is needed.

The main thing that's changed over the past 10 years is the "quality" of the working boys which has declined significantly. As we've all discussed many times...the days where the Dream Boys were in abundance are over. This applies to the bars as well as the massage parlors.

The "quality" of the boys seems to vary according to the location.

A: Gogo bars. Classic Boys is the only bar where I'd be fairly confident of finding a lad. Toy Boys had some nice ones back in January, but not now. I couldn't bear to look at the stage in Winner Boys, which has deteriorated markedly.

B: Massage shops. Finding a cute lad is rare these days.

C: Jomtien bars. Some of these are packed with cute lads. I was sat with one lad last night and there were at least 4 other cute lads at the same bar, none with customers. These were from Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.

The standard of service may vary too. It was about 10 years ago that one of my friends observed that gogo boys tended to be more rushed than those he met on the phone apps. No surprise, when it's possible to observe gogo boys leave with a customer and then return to the bar 45 minutes later.

Gogo bars are now bottom of my list of places to find boys. If I do off a gogo boy, he needs to be VERY cute. That way, at least I know he ticks one box.

I'm getting good results via the apps. Some of the lads try very hard.
Perhaps they have figured out it's easier to get a repeat customer than a new one ? For the best of them, I'm keen to have repeat meetings.

I just walked out of a popular shopping mall in Buriram that had more cute boys (my type) that I've seen in any one place in a long time. There was a time when half of these boys would have been working the scenes in BKK/PTY/Phuket, but those days are behind us.

The last time Jai and I visited the bars in JC I spotted 2 out of a 2 hundred that caused me to look twice, but no real show-stoppers on the Dodger Scale. Ironically, it was Jai who was turning heads everywhere we went...not just the farang, but the boys as well. I'm extremely fortunate.

When I travel to the provinces, it's for sightseeing. Hooking up with any boys is very much a bonus.
As far as I can tell, there are fewer Thai boys who are "available" these days. Then, by the time I exclude those who are overweight, covered in tattoos, tops or with facial hair, there isn't much left in the smaller cities.

Although, on the other hand, my only unpaid sex has been out in the provinces.

I'd be interested to hear comparisons of now and 20 years ago, from people who are butterflying in various provinces.

What I can say is there's plenty of talent in Pattaya. The most recent was boy F from Cambodia. Another one who I rate as very good.

I certainly wasn't.

I suppose we all have our various priorities. For you, visiting the provinces apparently is sightseeing first, boys later. For me, it's boys first, sightseeing later. Depending on circumstances boys and sightseeing could easily be simultaneous.

And on occasion for me it was boys first and to hell with the sightseeing . . .

We have seen a dramatic decline in the number of cute Thai lads coming to Pattaya. Here, this isn't a problem, as they have been replaced by cute lads from Cambodia and Laos. Who do a fine job, just as long as we ask the right questions beforehand.

Obviously I don't see the foreign lads in places like Khon Kaen.
In fact, it's also harder finding guys in the smaller Lao and Cambodian cities now than 15 years ago. Possibly as they all come to Pattaya.

Most of my travelling around Thai provinces has been in the last 6 years.
So I don't have a before and after comparison.
Although, somewhere like Chiang Mai had a thriving gay scene when I visited 15 years ago, with easily available boys from bars. Now there still are boys, but it's hard work. Definitely not like it was.

I'm not even reading about people visiting Chiang Mai for the gay scene these days.

If anyone is still travelling around the smaller Thai cities to find boys to sleep with, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

It's been years, but what has changed - at least in Buriram? According to Dodger's post the same kind of observations I made back then are quite the same as Dodger observed just today.

The very fact that Thai boys don't go to Pattaya anymore in the kinds of numbers from years ago, that means you have a very good chance of finding them in their home towns and provinces. Hopefully they're not all hidden away on remote rice farms.

I find it far easier to meet lads in Pattaya or Bangkok than the provinces. Those I meet are mainly ftom Laos or Cambodia. I have the impression that other travellers also find this.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has travelled around Thailand in the last 5 years with different results.

What are they feeding them in Cambodia these days? I've just come back from a very successful massage at The Paradise Spa with a tall Cambodian only a few inches shorter than me (I'm 6 foot).

Last night I sat with a Cambodian boy in Classic Boys who was shorter than me standing up but taller sitting down. I'm not used to looking up at a boy. My height is in my legs his was in his gorgeous upper body.

The Laos boys I've encountered seem shorter generally. The one boy I know from Myanmar (best bum in Pattaya) is still tall but not by Cambodian standards.
