I wander through Jomtien and long time favourite boy T is at his bar, with that irresistable smile. I join him for a few drinks.
Whilst boy T goes to the hong nam, boy K from the bar across the road starts walking over to me. He retreats when boy T comes back. Very discrete.
Anyhow, I settle the bill, tip boy T and after visiting the hong nam, boy T is already talking to boy K.
I make some comment about all the handsome Cambodian boys, smile and leave.

Boy K asked to meet me today, as he's going home "soon".

I asked why he's going home in high season and the answer is "no customer". Which may be BS.

I've never seen this lad on the apps and he claims not to like them. Offs from Jomtien bars don't seem that frequent, so by not using the apps, I suspect he's missing out on trade.
He speaks good English and I know of lads who had almost no English who are still proficient with online dating.

Translator apps usually give both oral and written translations. I notice they have become much more sophisticated and the Thai to English translations are usually very good or at least good enough to easily understand what the boy is trying to say.

Copying and pasting into the chat apps is a great help, both Thai to English and English to Thai.

The translator app I like best is "Google Translate" - It's free and available for both Android and Apple.

Proficiency with translation apps varies.

Prior to meeting his ex BF, Boy T used to speak almost no English, but was very proficient at using translation apps
On the other hand, boy F gets quite poor results.
Both speak into the translator app in Khmer. Boy F certainly doesn't read the input to check it and I was under the impression that boy T doesn't read either.

Incidentally, boy K lost all his Line contacts when changing phone. Such carelessness cannot be good for trade.

An incoming message on Grindr: "I have been searching for your chat for many days because I was going to visit you. We had agreed and talked about it."

Well, he had asked to come to my room a few days ago.
I had said no, I'm busy. I had asked what he likes doing. He didn't reply.

There are plenty of other boys to go after.

Boy L (Cambodia). Cute and slim, with fairly long hair. I sat with him at a bar. Speaks good English. Unlike some who plead poverty, this one admits to flying to and from Phnom Penh. He claims to have spent only 3 years in school, from 3 to 6 years old, but I'm suspecting BS here. He's constantly sniffing some tub of green paste, which he said was from a 7-Eleven and it looks like it.

If that's what I think it is, it's a camphor based inhaler, popular not only with the boys, but a great many Thais because it is very cheap.

I hope there is a Thai version of camphor on Google. If they read about it, they would likely stop using it.

I think you're right. It was similar to this: https://www.tops.co.th/en/hongthai-comp ... 9126000089

I don't recall seeing anyone sniffing that, never mind every 2 minutes like he was. On the other hand, I have seen the things for inserting in nostrils and will use those myself, when ill and congested.

What is common these days is vaping. He was also at that, just like several other Cambodian boys I've sat with recently. At least that smells far nicer than smoking.

Not just similar. Exactly that. That's the camphor inhaler. Even pharmacies carry it. Inhaling a little camphor is harmless, but sniffing that inhaler every two seconds - that's dangerous. Sooner or later it will do much more harm than good.

Of course, trying to convince the boys of that - good luck. An exercise in futility.

One lad I know has always had a concern about hidden cameras.
Anyway, apparently he actually found one when visiting a customer. Thankfully before getting down to business. I was shown a photo of the alleged device. I gather a suitable settlement was reached.

Not something I would ever do.

Actually, come to think of it, I've been on the wrong side of that. There was the bedroom incident where another lad whipped out his camera and started filming one handed in Pakse.

In another ASEAN country, a boy contacts me on Grindr with an offfer of a massage service.

As he asks for a decision, I say "no thank you"

He ask why. I say I want an erotic massage. He's already made it clear it's a professional service only.

He then starts arguing that his price is very reasonable and that I should not expect an erotic massage for that price.
This is irrelevant. He's offered me a service I don't want, so what does the price matter? I haven't questioned or negotiated the price.
However, I don't bother replying. He's the one interested in arguing, not me.

Then, just to compound the stupidity, he blocks me.
So if I decide I want a professional massage another day, I have no means of contacting him.
As it happens, the idea has crossed my mind, but his irrational behaviour rules that out.
