I would add a 6th item to your list - no aggressive touts blocking my way and trying to get me into their bar. When I encounter those, that's one bar I won't enter under any circumstances no matter how attractive the boys might be.

This used to be a problem in Soi Twilight, however I learnt to keep walking, even if I walk through their outstretched arm.

I use a stricter version of this tactic with the Indian tailors in Pattaya. Avoid all eye contact, be deaf to anything they say and keep walking. If they step out into my path, keep walking. They WILL move. Counter their harassment by behaving like they don't exist. They get the message & quickly learn to not bother me again.

I think Dream Boys in Patpong is the only place with unreasonably pushy staff & I can deal with it. Their boys are the antithesis of what I'm looking for, so I'm not going in anyway.

In Jomtien all you get is a very moderate sales pitch from some nice cute boys.

In 2024, I can't think of a single bar in Thailand that I want to visit that has a tout problem.

I watched a video on the FB page of our beloved complex. Boys dancing to the music and a customer sitting with a young man.

The cushions were being manipulated to hide what looked like fun activity by the twosome. Maybe just playing peek a boo briefly. Probably because it’s low season this can happen. I’m all for it. Reminds me of Winner Bar.
Of course it’s rather tame but nice to see a bar lighten up a bit.

I think I prefer the old style, but should probably wait until I've been there on the next trip.

Now you mention it, they used to have a couple of podiums for dancers in the bar, with a couple of customer tables nearby, then the rest of the seating was outside, facing away from the podiums.
I thought sitting with your back to the action was always a bit odd. So perhaps they fixed this.

On the other hand, perhaps one of the other bars with no show could try to do more with a pool table (internet photo):

Very cute boy there. It looks like from their latest video on FB that they must have removed the pool table and now has a main stage inside.

I’m not sure who that dancer is because of all the makeup. I will say I prefer when they aren’t in drag. Way too many of those damn drag shows there.

When I mentioned before that they had a pool table inside, I should have also pointed out about the two small stages on opposite sides of the entrance, and the tables outside. In the back there was the bar, with a very cute bartender.

He since moved to Boystown and works as a go go boy. Unfortunately he rushed me when I took him about 2 am. He was hanging out near BN bar and wanted to go to soi 12 to hang with friends.Next time I’ll make sure he’s not in a rush.

I agree totally. Is there some unwritten rule that a show has to be a drag show ? Why not put on a cute boy show ?

On the subject of a cute boy show, the modified M-Bar format looks promising. Has anyone seen it since they started these shows ?
