The best area to enjoy Pattaya

Post by Leoblue »

Hi,
I’m happy to join this forum. I’m Leo from France.
I’m going to travel to Thailand soon, and for the first time, I will dedicate my trip to Bangkok and Pattaya. I already know Bangkok pretty well, but I’ve only been to Pattaya once for a few days.
According to you, what is the best spot to stay if you want to enjoy gogo bars and gay bars? I really like Xboys show and spending time with boys from Toy Boys, but I don’t know Jomtien. However, I would like to discover it too.
Is it better to stay near Boyztown area or near Jomtien Complex? Is the trip from one place to the other easy by taxi at night?
Thanks for your advice.

Hello Leo,

Songthaews are readily available during the day and well into the night to take you between Jomtien and Boyztown for the sum of Bht 10. I'm not sure how late into the evening/early morning they operate because I walk anyway (I'm mad). I stay in a condo between the Jomtien Complex and Beach road so getting to the complex takes a couple of minutes. I believe that it tends to be quieter there at night than it would be near to boyztown, but that might not concern you. Wherever you choose to stay, you will surely enjoy your visit.

This very much depends on how you like to holiday.

If you like gogo bars, there are none in Jomtien.
If you like cute twinks, there are more to be found in Jomtien, but in host bars.
If you sometimes want to go to bed at a sensible time and sleep, you wouldn't want to be sleeping in a hotel right next to any of the bars.

There are more shops, restaurants & coffee shops in Pattaya than Jomtien.

Thanks a lot for your replies.
I think I’m going to try both places. A few days in Jomtien, and a few days near Boyztown.
I do prefer gogo bars, but I wanna experiment the special atmosphere of Jomtien.
There’s no map of the buses baht routes ?

The baht bus going south starts by the school. They are usually parked up there. Really easy to spot. 10 baht to Jomtien. Actually, your 10 baht would take you way beyond the complex, if you wanted.

On the way back, it's 10 baht Although if you stay on from Jomtien beyond the cross roads, I believe it is then 20.

Also, baht buses are not the only means of transportation. There also are motorbike taxis, and Bolt taxis where you get a choice of motorbike or car.

There are, e.g. here https://aseannow.com/topic/960043-baht- ... ew/page/3/

But they don't state frequency. Jomtien-Pattaya, Pattaya-Nakluea has one running every few minutes in daytime. Elsewhere (e.g. North Pattaya Bus Station to Walking Street) can take 10 minutes waiting (during which time nearby mocy taxi drivers will tell you there is not Baht bus, and I know it takes a while, and I got one a few months ago; but in an area where I don't even know they are running at low frequency, I would use other modes of traveling).

Last time I checked, Bolt had prices similar to Bangkok taxis, whereas Grab is controlled by taxi mafia and prices are such.

The actual routes in frequent operation are nothing like that.

For instance, I don't see baht buses operating on third road (red). I would be a regular customer if there was a service.
I do see buses operating on Soi Bukhao, even though you can walk the length of it quite quickly.
The ones in Jomtien head a long way down the beach and don't head to Sukhumvit.
I don't recall seeing any regular blue baht bus service on Sukhumvit.
The bus route to the top of Nakluea seems to start at the just south of Boyztown, not following anything like the green route. Then when they get to the market at Nakluea, you get off. No loop as on the map.

Finally, even if the route numbers on the Songthaew mean anything these days, many have no number.

I'd like to see a professional city bus service, as in Bangkok. And developed countries.
