Not every bar boy is interested in taking an off.

Who says it has to be a bar boy at all? For example if I am staying in a hotel where some of the staff is proficient with English, or maybe a restaurant where the waiter is proficient, or anywhere I find someone proficient, I would have no problem explaining what I am trying to do and ask for help with the translations. Maybe offer some money as an incentive.

In other words, it shouldn't be all that difficult to find somebody who will give you the Thai words and phrases you want, especially if there is something in it for your "helper".

I can't remember ever finding it a problem if the boy I was interacting with didn't speak English. Actually, and to be brutally honest, I've always found it to be a bit of a turn-on.

Like I've mentioned many times before, I've never felt the need to negotiate terms with a boy I was going to off, nor have I ever felt the need for him to hear about my list of demands/expectations. Conversely I just prefer letting nature take its course, and if we can't communicate with "words" then there are plenty of other ways to communicate when you're in bed together.

That goes for me too. If someone feels the need to explain something in particular he is looking for, why not make use of modern technology? Find a video of what you're looking for on the internet. That shouldn't be too difficult. Put the video into your smartphone and just show him the video.

I admit problems are rare and some make very proficient use of the translation apps. Including one who would speak into his phone and shortly afterwards, the message would appear in Grindr.

After 17 years of visiting Thailand, I still think it's about time I learnt some Thai. Also I've had even fewer problems in other areas of tourist activity, so I see no reason not to include this one.

Agreed. If I can't find online audio and text sources, I may need to do that when I go back to Thailand. There are plenty of other subject areas to go at in the meantime.

You may be able to get started right now. Where you live are there any Thai language schools or tutors? Are there any Thai restaurants? You might find just what you're looking for in your own backyard.

I purchased the RS Thai Language Course years ago and liked it because the methodology she uses doesn't rely on memorization which I found beneficial. And don't ask me what her technique is because I can't remember...

The Course I have was purchased and downloaded on my PC back when I was on work assignment in Thailand and had to tackle the basics...I refer to it occasionally....I'm still nowhere near fluent...but it helped. Unfortunately, phrases like; "I can't wait to suck your cock" are not included.

Apparently they discontinued that.

There are lots of free resources on the internet. If anything really stood out, I'd have signed up to a full course from that provider.
As it stands, I just record what suits me, edit out all the prattling on in English & put it on my phone so I can listen when out for a walk in the countryside.

Some are fairly good. Some are not. Talking English for 80% of the time is one of the common failures.

However, I am fortunate to be living in 2024, with a wide choice of material on the internet.

However, in between the polite introductions and that kind of talk, I'd like some more subtle phrases to steer the conversation.
I don't think it's polite to assume every lad I chat to is a money boy ready to jump in bed, so I'd firstly like to understand what he's looking for.

It's discretely establishing if he's interested in an "off", under what terms and what he likes to do that's far more difficult to find.

Just in case anyone mistakenly thinks the latter is all I'm interested in learning .
