I understand that the Perfect Boy Bar to me would not be considered the perfect bar by everyone else’s standards for the simple reason that we don’t all like the same things.

Based on two decades of hands-on experience (meant literally) on the gay scenes in Pattaya I estimate that close to half of the punters prefer the same types of boys that I like which are the twink-type boys, e.g., slim, cute, hairless, feminine, etc., versus the more masculine str8 boy-next-door types which are most popular with the other half. Understanding of course that many punters play on both fields.

The perfect bar to me would only focus on serving and satisfying twink-lovers (where guys are dolls), as I believe that bars that try to satisfy everyone by having a mix of different boy types often fall short of maintaining a regular repeat customer base and risk becoming a bit watered-down. Unless a bar is a huge operation (double-wide) and can staff 30-50 boys (like the old KAOS, or Wild Wild West), I think it’s best to just develop a niche market and not try to please everyone.

The perfect bar would only staff HOT cute slim fem boys who wore short-shorts while working which exposed their butt cheeks. Everyone loves cheeks and the fem boys love showing them! The bar would be dimly lit offering plenty of privacy…soft music to create an intimate mood…a small stage for showing off those cheeks…a few short-time rooms on the upper level…and last-but-not-least a skilled ladyboy mamasan to run the operation.

The number one failure mode of every bar I’ve seen open in Pattaya is if they overlook the importance of the “Mamasan”. Farang who attempt to run the business themselves without the support of a skilled (seasoned) Mamasan most often end up losing their investments and closing shop. If you look at Jomtien Complex now four of the bars which opened during the surge after Covid are now either closing or changing ownership due to lack of business, and ironically all four are (or were) owned/operated by farang, e.g., Dorothy’s Showbar, Double Shot, Divarium and BC bar.

I know this is going to sound a bit brutal, but the overwhelming majority of Farang have absolutely no idea how to recruit boys (even if they think they can), let alone recruit the right type of boys, and have even less experience training them, managing them, and keeping them happy so they remain employed. Every successful boy bar that I’ve seen has a skilled ladyboy mamasan standing back in the shadows making sure everyone is happy. They also serve as the front-line of communications with the local BIB for the reasons we all know. The BIB want to deal with Thais – not farang.

For me this is where the part about how we don't all like the same things comes in. I, for one, not only don't love cheeks. I don't even like them. Everything I like is on the other side. So, there is at least one person who cares nothing about cheeks.

For me, the face and the personality are what I most look for. The bodies don't mean so much to me because I've gotten to the point that other than their faces, the bodies all look pretty much the same. Still, I like the bodies clad in the briefest attire possible.

Cock size also means absolutely nothing to me. I don't care about cock size at all. For me, it's the face, the personality, and what he is willing to do that turns me on.

Also, heavily tattooed, mustaches and beards, hairy body, too much jewelry, and piercings other than ear piercings - for me any combination of those constitutes a "forget it" for me, no matter how good looking the rest of him might be.

I'm all for the slim cute boys showing some butt cheek.
This perfect bar would have a ban on boy moustaches and would reject any lads with more than one small tattoo.

Having recruited such talent, I want the bar lit well enough to see them, although with some dark corners as well.

If the bar has a stage, persuade the boys who are not on it to mingle.

You also need to persuade the boys to go the extra mile when looking after the customer. Inside the bar and outside.
I usually get better service from app boys than those offed from bars. This only leads to more of my trade on the apps.

Whilst it's difficult, the bar needs to try and change that.

Customers might be a problem.
Of the 3 who commented here, two rarely/never visit bars and the third only does when visiting Thailand.

I would definitely visit such a bar during my holidays.

However, to keep going back at a reasonable frequency, say twice a week or more, it would actually have to achieve perfection.

For example, if Grindr boys were taking better care of the customer than Perfect Boy Bar boys, then I would quickly revert to finding boys on Grindr.
Then when the purpose of visiting a bar is no longer to off boys, but just for on site fun, it loses some of the appeal.

Well, if we're going for perfection, the front of the bar could be similar to a larger Euro Boys gogo. Well lit with seating close to the boys who wear minimal white underwear. If there are cute boys I want to see them.

The remainder of the bar could be less well lit, with sofas. The bar should have enough boys to rotate through both sections of the bar.

I think a mix of straight boys and gayboys is more fun. That is what makes Toyboys such a fun gogobar seeing the playfull gayboys on stage groping the straight masculine boys who respond by jokingly pretend-hump the gayboys. My experience is that a mix of boys creates a more fun athmosphere.
Eros in Sunee plaza used to have that too and it was very fun to see the interactions between the straight boys and the gay boys.
Winnerboy bar has recruited some new nicelooking straight boys too lately, which I think has been a good addition to the bar and made it even more fun to look at the boys on stage.

Maybe good to have for a bar when it comes to recruitment, but keep the mamasans away from customers!

Mamasans are the reason why I rarely visit bars like Dreamboys, Classic boys and M bar. And I doubt I'm the only Pattaya expat who feels the same. Bars with mamasans who can't stop themselves from interfering between customers and boys can't be good for business.
