I suspect they thought the thin white underwear was barely decent. It certainly left less to the imagination than average underwear. I liked it.
As for why they wore 2 pairs of underwear, I don't know for sure. The one Fresh Boys off I had during that period was from Myanmar and didn't speak much English.

I have often seen two pairs of underwear elsewhere in gogo's, but that was probably more of a Bangkok & Boyztown thing. Two pairs of underwear would have been pointless in many of the Sunee bars .

Ok, that explains why I never noticed. I haven't gone to Boyztown bars or any bar in Bangkok for years. I very rarely go to go-go bars now, but when I did, it was almost always Sunee Plaza.

For me it has been far longer than that. Even when I am in Bangkok I don't go anywhere near them. Probably because I live here and am not in Thailand on holiday, I'm not about to pay those Bangkok prices and the tips the Bangkok boys demand. For me, it's expensive enough right here in Pattaya - and it's been a long time since I went to any of those bars too.

If I were in Bangkok on holiday I'm sure it would be a different story. For me, the "good ol' days" in Pattaya - long before the existence and popularity of the apps - were when drinks were rarely more than 100 baht, the usual off fee was 250 baht, and the boys never asked for a tip more than 1000 baht, even for all night. I don't remember what the prices were in Bangkok, but I don't think they were significantly much more than Pattaya prices.

I also remember when I enjoyed Phuket and Samui. I don't recall outrageous prices at either locales.

Unless they up their game, I may never visit another Bangkok gogo bar.
The last time I offed a lad from a Bangkok bar, I think it cost almost 1500 for the 2 drinks and the off fee. Then I gave him 2000 ST and he asked for more (which he did not get). I think this was 2019.
I would still at least visit these bars, but if they want 400 for my drink, in return, I expect to see cute skinny lads in underwear (or less). I'm not aware of any bar passing that test.

Meanwhile, even in Bangkok. I can still find a lad on an app and get far better service for 1500. Some quote lower prices than this.

In Pattaya, Toy Boys and Classic Boys at least offer something worth seeing on stage. Including lads from Cambodia etc. Just get there before the really nice ones are offed.

Winner have very competitive pricing, but the boy selection has been deteriorating. None were slim, cute & mostly free from tattoos. Having only Thai boys is becoming a limitation these days. I suspect the Sunee gogo bars are not prepared to pay what it takes for the authorities to turn a blind eye to foreign staff.
So my visits here are becoming less frequent.

Meanwhile, certain non gogo Jomtien bars do have cute boys in underwear or an equivalent. With reasonable prices.
For nightlife, Jomtien has more going for it than Bangkok.

That is a big part of what ruins it for me. I would like at least the illusion that he is having a good time with me. But when they make it perfectly obvious that the only thing they're interested in is the money, that in itself destroys any chance of me enjoying the evening - at all.
