Marco Polo

Post by lvdkeyes »

Last night four of us went to Marco Polo in the Montien Hotel for dinner. We each had soup; 2 had wonton soup, 1 had seafood soup and one had Szchewan soup. We ordered the Peking duck. First we had the thinly sliced skin with pancakes, hoison sauce, green onions and cucumber. Then we had duck cooked with garlic and sweet and sour duck. It is not cheap, but we all agreed it was worth the price. The service was perfect, attentive, but not intrusive. Guess what! They charge 30 baht for water. Sorry, I just had to add that.

I've been there several times myself, and I too greatly enjoy it. I don't remember what they charge for water, but as I recall the tea is is included in the price of the dinner.

What do they charge now for the Peking duck? Last time I was there it was 1400 baht.

Too Funny!! A bill for 2 people of at least 3500 baht and you think you got a bargain because the water was 30 baht. Oh my God it's still 4.5x what you could pay in 7/11. Does 7/11 serve Peking Duck.

Bill for 4 people was 3330 THB included VAT & service charge; a long way from 3500 THB for 2. Peking duck is 1884 THB, which easily served 4 with soup added at 250 THB per bowl. 80 THB for small water is 12 X's 7-11 prices, but how does 7-11 enter into this?

Water at Marco Polo is 30 THB; water is 80 THB at a previously mentioned restaurant in another thread.
