On his blog, Pattaya resident "Mr. D" has written an excellent commentary -- titled "Count Me Out" -- about the U. S. presidential election. (A/K/A "Suffering from Post-Traumatic Election Disorder"). He perceptively refers to the “dumbing down” of America. Here is the link:

Excellent Commentary on U.S. Election by "Mr. D"
Re: Excellent Commentary on U.S. Election by "Mr. D"
Certainly worth reading. In the UK we speak of "turkeys voting for an early Christmas."
Of course the same happened with Brexit....those areas most generously supported by European funding were the ones that voted to leave.

It's amazing how much these idiots are out of touch with their homeland. No big problem though, as long as they stay put in Pattaya.

You have some good points , but for me I am not so worried that she used a private server but how many times did she lied about it. I know all people tell lies but to me she has real credibility issues . A lot of you guys are over there leaving the good life while I am stuck here. It also scared me that she was going to continue Obama Care. In 2 years I have seen my health insurance go from $380.00 a month for a very good coverage and low deductible , to last year $875.00 per month for crappy coverage and high deductible. This next year it goes to $1395.00 per month with a $5000.00 dollar deductible and less coverage , so maybe if that gets repealed that would help someone like me .

Personally, I'll take her credibility issues over Trump's without the slightest hesitation.MissingThailand wrote:she has real credibility issues

I have great respect for Mr D and his writings.Alex wrote:It's amazing how much these idiots are out of touch with their homeland. No big problem though, as long as they stay put in Pattaya.
He's a good man who has many fine trait's.
He's certainly not an idiot.
That said I do believe there is some truth in the statement that many expats are out of touch with the homeland.
Many have not been back stateside for many years.
I have visited the States two or three times each year for six to eight weeks at a time.
.
I still have contact with many clients and friends as well as family members when in the States.
I have seen the economic straits many Americans are experiencing. I've heard their plights. I saw the tsunami of voter anger building and coming. It was inevitable.
This election saw the American worker rise up and say enough is enough Washington DC. Democrats crossed over with Republicans and Independents to elect the agent for change... Donald Trump President.
The example above of rising health insurance costs is but one example of why change is needed. Multiplying that by tens of millions across America who are strapped severely trying to pay their bills on time. And the loss of good paying jobs. Much due to the greed of American corporations.
The lack of a real border and influx of millions of illegal immigrants concerns Americans in America. Its frightening and also taking billions of taxpayer's dollars. Dollars which should be used to support the rebuilding of America first... Education skills, infrastructure rebuilding, healthcare for our Veterans and homeless. So much more!
Now it's time to come together to find solutions for the many challenges and problems facing America.
I have confidence in America will endure this election crisis of confidence. Let's give Trump a fair chance at change for a better America.
To Mr D. I say that I hear your concerns.
Please have faith and patience.
These are very important times for America.
Donald Trump is listening and preparing to make America a better place to live for all.
Take good care,
Tj

Fact checkers have said Hillary is the most honest of all the 2016 who were running.
Re: Excellent Commentary on U.S. Election by "Mr. D"
FYI, Trump won the electoral college. Clinton won the popular vote. Today's vote tally (per Dave Liep's Atlas) for Clinton is 64,641,150 (47.97%) while Trump has 62,438,889 (46.34%) . (Clinton's popular vote total continues to increase daily as millions of provisional, absentee, and overseas ballots are tallied.) This gives Clinton 2.2 million+ more popular votes -- 2,202,261 or +1.63% -- than Trump. It's high time for Congress to get rid of the elitist Electoral College -- a vestige of the horse-and buggy era of the 1780s -- so voters can DEMOCRATICALLY elect U.S. presidents by popular vote. Here's how to do it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_ ... te_Compact

Yes, an excellent read penned by Mr. D.
Very nice sentiments. I just wish the "unloyal" opposition had the same sentiments in 2008 when an other gentlement was taking the office.travelerjim wrote:Now it's time to come together to find solutions for the many challenges and problems facing America.

That two things that separate my countrymen from Americans most profoundly are the gun-worship and fear of a national health system across the pond, and so some of the above comments are fascinating.
Fidel Castro died yesterday and so it's worth remembering that an impoverished little island, boycotted and attacked militarily and financially by the Neighbourhood Bully, not only was able to fund a national health service which is the envy of the Americas but also "export" trained doctors and health workers to many parts of sub-Saharan Africa.
By the way, Puan, I agree....something to do with the other gentleman being African-American, perhaps?
